  1. Am I the only one that caught the salt n pepa reference here?

  2. There won't be a MacBook Air next year.

  3. I just bought a MacBook Air for $899 and free AirPods Pro (Best Buy did a price match and offered me free air pods pro instead of the the og airpods)

I knew Apple was going to refresh them next month but given that this MacBook came out this year I decided to get it.
Now I’m curious to know if Apple is going to be using their own chips I wonder if they will be more than the $999 if it’s going to replace the MacBook Air.

  4. all i want to know is which kidney to sell!

  5. I currently own a 2012 build iMac and am looking forward to upgrading my system. Any ideas when the desktops will switch processors?

  6. I’ve had Lenovo touchscreen laptops for years but probably touched the screen only once or twice. If there’s a way to disable touchscreens, if they do put them, I’m ok with it.

  7. These ideas for touch screen macs are not realistic and so not apple. I'd call it absurd

  8. I have apple products but I like my games on my Windows PC and will not be using a Mac but I do have to wonder if things have improved, also I do not care for Windows much but the computer works fine.

  9. Touchscreen Mac? Never. Does not even make sense

  10. I can't imagine how to use touch screen especially if it an iMac 27 inch how can we type in keyboard for example? not a good idea imho

  11. Amazing

  12. not too excited about touch screen macs… 'bootcamp will die, it seems' … a whole slew of apple proprietary devices… sounds like return to the old days…..

  13. CNET Brian tong is better

  14. So that means that I should wait a little longer to replace my 2011 MacBook Pro??

  15. I wonder if this will open up compatibility with the old powerpc software ? I still have my old games left over from my iMac g3

  16. 3:22 "Back when Apple switched from PPC to Intel, Apple used the technology called Rosetta."
    No, not quite right.
Apple's use of Intel processors predated the use of Rosetta/Universal apps by 3½ years. Intel processors debuted in January 2006, Rosetta was a feature exclusive to the Snow Leopard (10.6) iteration of OS X, released in August 2009.

  17. music intolerable. will be my apple news elsewhere.

  18. I use an Asus with the core m and I never really have issues with performance. I think Apple's issues were with lack of cooling. Arm will be a good fit for their cooling philosophy, I'll probably pick up the rumored $800 MacBook.

  19. Regarding palm-sized phones and no stylus, Jobs was right then and right now—people just stopped listening to him.

  20. The iMac won't get a touchscreen, but maybe the Apple Pencil will work with it.

  21. Hopefully pricing can decrease since they won’t be relying on intel. They’re basically making their own internal parts so it makes sense that they won’t be investing in intel.

  22. If they really re-launch the 12 inch MacBook with that chip, I’m signing up day 1. I miss the 12inch MacBook. No fan noice is SO good.

  23. I don’t understand the obsession with touch screen on a laptop. I have a touch screen and I NEVER use it. Only these reviewers think so.

Ok, so comparing stylus with Apple Pencil is dumb. Stylus at that time was the only input system. iPhone changed it to touch. Apple Pencil is not mandatory or even a necessary component for 90% people. It’s for artists with special drawing needs.

  24. Apple silicon more like ARM twicked chips

If they did touchscreen the ways you've posited it, they would be completely stupid. Hey nice video though, the first few points were really nailed.

  25. Lol from PowerPC (RISC) to Intel X86 (CISC) and to Apple Silicon (ARM). Seems it is going back but with an more improved version of rosetta.

  26. Clearly, you have no clue what you are talking about. Yes Apple complained about Intels chips because, Apple insisted on doing things with Intel chips that they were never designed for. The thinner crap is the problem. Thinner and lighter actually means less battery life when actually driven hard. It isn't Rosetta 2. It's universal binary 2. Mobile apps are a huge detriment. #1, interface. #2, features. iOS and iPad apps are stripped down versions of the Mac/Windows versions. There will be no touch screen Mac. The trackpad already does everything a touchscreen can do.

  27. IAPPS… is this guy living under a rock? Prj Catalyst!!!!

  28. Can we use architecture software such as autocad, lumion etc. in the new silicon apple?

  29. I so appreciate how you properly say “Apple Silicon” instead of ARM. Too few journalists get this right.

  30. I use a MacBook 12”, and love it. If it came back as an ARM-based model, that would be so awesome.

  31. For god sake Apple Pencil is not a stylish

  32. 0 Don't expect any change in price; may even rise.

  33. hahahahah / cnet is asking apple to copy Windows 10 ala tablet mode

  34. why need touchscreen on Mac when the keyboard and the trackpad is much more closer and convenient to you?

  35. The amazing 12.9 inch screen used on the iPad pro could be the screen we see on a touch enabled 13 inch MacBook or MacBook Pro. Maybe it was a precursor to the touchscreen MacBook line-up.

  36. Meh… overprice crippleware

#5 is Nonsense. They can write exactly to the intel spec

  37. I have no experience with touchscreen laptops but I can't imagine that that does make sense. Probably Apple thinks the same way and we will never see Macbooks with touchscreens.

  38. The stylus comment was stupid. Steve Jobbs was talking about phones using styluses instead of fingers. Not about tablets for writing and creative work.

  39. why not just use the whole touch screen as a trackpad for a mouse pointer?

  40. Most people think Apple is doing this for their benefit. One thing for sure you will eventually be forced to upgrade your laptop because Apple will only support ARM processors. I think that is the plan. It will also kill the refurbish market to resell your laptop. Apple was already caught updating Iphone OS to slow down older iphones to pressure you into purchasing the latest model. Technology is far too good nowadays. You really don't need to upgrade every one or two years maybe three or four.

  41. Seriously I'm very skeptical to think apple is being altruistic for creating a better product by switching to ARM processors. They are power saving but they are known to be slower. If you try to match them with the speed of Intel you will lose battery life. Most IMPORTANT! it forces everyone with the older macs running Intel processors to eventually upgrade their laptop and it kills the refurbish market for your mac if you want to resell it.

  42. Will never buy another mac they will be outdated every other month now and not running native x86 software.

  43. Still trackpad for mac. But Good if they will have a 360 degree mac and when you convert it, it becomes an ipad. Haha. They will never make this. Less money for them. Unless this is the way they will kill laptops and tablets. Haha.
