  1. Opera GX ain’t your granpappy’s web browser. So check them out here: https://operagx.gg/LinusTechTips

  2. Bro the marbles clacking noise was so fucking annoying wtf was up with that

  3. Linus please ship them to people who can benefit by using them as a starter pack hence increasing the life of the gadgets

  4. As an Australian 8 GBPS downloads are utterly incomprehensible

  5. The thing helping hard drives back then were the fact that the first SSDs had tiny storage.

But that hard drive you have there isn't big either lol.

I still remember my mother's dying Thinkpad that would take 5 minutes to start and seemed to get slower every time it was shut down.

Although 8gbps kinda needs the internet to help it.
    I can only get 150mbps I think.
I got 500 for awhile at the university apartments in America at least.
Is this why some people I know say stuff like "I only have 300mbps"? Before we got our newer internet plan, it used to be at 44mbps.

Idk how expensive internet plans are but I don't think we can afford one like that lol.

  6. 20 mbp/s is slow now? guess some people are too entitled

  7. Meanwhile me, running AI on my slightly faster laptop 😂

  8. I almost guarantee Dell would still sell this for 600 dollars.

  9. Where'd you buy the 450W PSU from? I want one for my home server! The smallest one I could find was a Be Quiet 550W but that's still overkill for a server PC that draws <150W at peak.

  10. the only advantage these brand new E-waste computers have over a 10 year old dell office PC, is warranty, driver support and upgrade path.

  11. I ordered my Cyberpower which I'll advise not to do unless you are in need of one immediately. replacing the 126GB LiteOn boot drive was a huge advantage which makes me scared of that LiteOn power supply from the office computer.

  12. Is there even a reason for Intel to manufacture these cpus

  13. Think the 1030 is bottlenecked by the cpu lol

  14. The last time I bought a new computer was an HP laptop in around 2008. New is nice, sure, but when you can get close to the same performance for half the price used it's hard to fork out the extra moolaa.

  15. 58w for two cores with no hyperthreading!!!

  16. this is still faster than my 2015 IMAC

  17. 4 gigs of ram, 2.some ghz dual core cpu, I'm pretty sure you rebuilt my cheapo laptop from 10 years ago

  18. idk, i've ran windows on 10 year old worse systems and the load times were better just with an SSD

  19. raspberry pi's are faster.

  20. don't need to build anything, slowest brand pc is your brain, man

  21. THIS meets the Win 11 spec and my 24Nm Xeon, which still rips, doesn't. Microsoft "if it's old it's got to be no good"

  22. Instead of a gtx1080, you can get a used rx6600 for the same price and much better performance

  23. I mean Id get that

  24. You have to use SSDs for any PC. You have to.

  25. Me – checking to see if any of my PC's parts make it into this video.

  26. Ya'll have 20MB/s I only have 6 tops

  27. Godamn, Linus is insufferable to watch

  28. 5:41 yep I still use my old computers with a I5 2400 with DDR3 and a hard drive and yeah window takes some time to load compared to my newer systems with well all the modern tech, including SSD. But hey, when it gets running and finishes loading everything it works and I basically had to force updated to Windows 11. Like my old computers would take that long loading into windows and then loading my user and then actually loading everything else. My computers, barely even load. (I have many computers because I use them for mining so therefore I don’t mind the speed or the time it takes to load into windows.)

  29. The funny thing is that it's the "fast" gt1030, the ddr5 model is atrocious

  30. Wth my 13year old HP oem pc that I bought used for 50$ is way way better. It comes with 3770 and GT730 even.

  31. Oh, so we kind of getting back to the old arcade days where you would play Pac-Man all day 😂

  32. even my i7 4790 is faster than that thing

  33. Feel sorry for the guy who is going to win this thing at the christmas party 😂

  34. personally don't like the used market approach they use all the time. Would like to see new option aswell and how that compares.

  35. Celeron doesn't use twice as much power btw, and it is not slower being at 3.4 GHz is already faster than the 3.5 GHz of athlon at that time

  36. We recognized the value of the SSD right away. A 120GB sata SSD was the price of a 2TB nvme today. I still bought it.

Why? Because the online games we were playing back then didn't have a staging screen, the game starts before anyone has actually loaded.

Since SSD's were still rare, by the time someone on the other team had finished loading, i was already capping the base next to their home base XD

  37. when ya use to turn on your pc and walk away to make food and a drink

  38. if you want a faster pc for cheaper, i got a athlon 880k system up for grabs for you thats faster than that thing you made XD

  39. I remember when I was a kid my dad had a Commodore 64. We would pick a game before sitting down for dinner and fire it up. Usually by the time we ate and did the dishes the game would be loaded.

  40. 7:14 it's mighty wishful to think Microsoft learns from their mistakes

  41. honestly its strange with 8400, i got i5 7500 with 1660ti , and runs faster much more.

  42. NO!! I didn't enjoy the video, because now with all your advertising spots and CONSTANTLY plugging your online store, it feels like I'm watching a infomercial with a little computer tech thrown in. To be honest all these add spots, multiple sponsors and constant merch push makes me want to un-subscribe and never watch another 1 of your videos. I know that I can't be alone on this..

  43. Well for a grand I got an old HP z840, 2 x xeons 2629, 128 gig of ram and 2 x RTX A4000, 1 SSD for windows, 1SSD for Linux and 2 Raptors 4T for data …. second hand is the way to go…
CPU clock is slow and so is ram and GPUs, but it is dead silent, works very well and consumes maybe 300-400w maxxed with 4 monitors, but usually way less!

  44. I know that hard drives are quite slow for modern standards. But I can't be the only one who thinks that Windows 11 being unusable on an HDD is more due to bad coding rather than hard drives being slow

  45. iMac late 2014,i7 4790k,32 DDR3,NVMe 512,boot time 18sec to passw…,lol

  46. Bro my phone does better than this though it's a Nokia 😂

  47. Just tuning in, haven't watched for a while. But it seems that your pace hasn't gone down in video count per week. I hope you guys are okay.

  48. Should have put arch linux on it.

  49. I remember my meth head uncle trying to sell me some flash drives for a few dollars, saying how they are 128 ones… I was interested as I only had a single 64gb one, but apparently he had several 64mb and one 128mb ones… or something of the sort. He didn't have anything over 200mb though, so I kinda laughed and declined his offer 🙂

Funny things I remember when I see such slow parts in a build lol

  50. Sooo my nice new hp omen downloading at 4mb/s is not a good thing?
