Hey guys, just want to clarify what we’re trying to say with this video. We’re using the generic image to illustrate that these days, even the Pixel UI is significantly customized by Google- to the point that calling that interface 'Stock Android' feels quite disingenuous.
'Stock Android', that is to say ‘Android without any vendor customizations’, isn't really a usable thing anymore as it was in the past. Even the most straightforward custom ROMs make tons of their own changes to the base Android code because the most basic forms of Android, like AOSP and GSI, aren’t meant to be daily driven.
HTC had the best phone call interface. Now with oneplus you have to drag down the notification bar to hang up or go back into the call app

I always thought Pixels had "stock android" which is why I've finally bought a pixel. And I love it. But it turns out its not stock at all.

As a pixel 7 owner I really do not recognize the problems highlighted in this review. Some examples, my camera app has a easy camera – video switch and all the options I would ever need. Also, I use bluetooth audio very frequently, without issues.

Well, Samsung really have done well, with their Android platform, if you compare it to what they had going 6 years back.
Dumped my galaxy S4, and went the Pixel/OnePlus route. Then went back to Galaxy on the S19, and never had a single issue since. Love it, currently on the S23 and its just amazingly stable and fast.

I do actually have a lot of similar issues with BT-settings as well on my Pixel 7 Pro, how strange!
Heres the thing, the android they used is probably not even android as the stock android can be seen in startphone makers like Motoroloa, like how would motorola have Pixel UI when they are not owned by google and owned by a chinese brand???, and GSI is made for testing purposes and a starting point for ppl to make their android roms.
Hence GSI is not considered a normal OS to daily drive and is also not stock android in any way.
I'd like to see running apps, the ones that I can at least pin to memory, to be shown in a docked bar always like on Windows for insta switching.
I personally just use stock + nova launcher
pure aosp is not broken,but is is very empty and you have to add things to it

I mean… All those first problems are fixable by a custom launcher. Which I've been using on Samsung phones too. Lawnchair. Best one out there.
I was a bit shocked at how behind android (or nothing os) is behind OneUI.
Samsung android is just so much better.
I really miss the days of the Sony Xperia Z5 – very decent phone and with a very usable, non-bloated AOSP.

Yeah, I am used to a pretty much dead launcher (ADW 2), that basically does what I want it to do. If it breaks again in the future, it's going to be quite painful.

As a years long MIUI user, it's been amazing how far behind stock is on features.
I want to say the best version of Android is the Hello Kitty version, but sadly I think no one has made it yet and you can only get it as a Linux Distro.

This is mainly about how the Apps in the base Android build is very basic. But more so it is really not intended to be used in a consumer device, it would be like a PC with a copy of Windows with no drivers installed, and has notepad and WordPad installed and nothing else.

Man, I want to see someone taking over the pixel experience project. I was a daily driver of that rom on my main device but ilnow i use pixel os which is good but its not as close to pixels as pe was. I dont know what problems dev was having that he has to leave but i dont hate him for that as everyone have there own life. But please someone from dev community of custom roms, please please take over the pixel experience project. It was the best ro. I have ever used.

GSI is not meant to be used by normal user.
If you want stock AOSP experience, try "LineageOS"

Each brand's Android phones have their own custom Android version while every modern Windows laptop has the same stock Windows.
This video makes no sense there's no phone that comes with aosp rom so if you need to use it u have to flash it manually heh at that point if you are that much tech savy there are way better custom roms to flash
