The GT 730. There was a DDR4 and DDR3 (iirc, I know for sure it was a RAM architecture difference) variant, costing around $60 and $30 USD respectively. I found this out while helping a really poor guy from India on the old TomsHardware forums.
He basically scrounged up an old PC and wanted to play some older 2D games his friend was playing with their own 730. He said he saved up for 3 months to pay the ruple equivalent of $30 USD (it was something like 4200-4800 at the time).
But his couldn't play one of the games in question. I don't quite remember what we checked first—some easy hardware things, I think—but he gave me the link to the Indian Amazon page he bought the card on and after some thorough examination of the details, discovered what Nvidia had done.
It felt awful to inform him he bought the wrong card and that the card he wanted and needed was double the price.
This was before the 1030 GDDR5 switched to DDR4 scandal, so when that happened my thoughts were "so they did it again".
I don't know if that's because they're evil, they don't want to redesign and pay for new packaging all the time (which can cost quite a bit), or there's that much miscommunication… maybe it's a little bit of all of the above.
Regardless, I really wish honesty would take precedence over whatever they're smoking.
Just make a generic green box with "Nvidia" and a space for stamped specifications instead of cool "3049Ti" logos for each variant.
Sometimes it's about a lost/expired contract.
Memory modules are sold in the millions, they make a deal based on that. When that deal ends, the manufacturer price has changed which leaves them no choice but to change the part, price or specs. None of which are ideal, and it's not their fault
NVIDIA is AI company now, and they might not even care about this.

While I agree in transparency, from nvidias point of view, creating more names may also create more things a consumer has to see/research.
I kind of had the same gripe ages ago with Intel, they bought out the i7, then an i9 etc, so what's next, an i10 etc, no they just recycled the i5, i7 & i9 and bunged a pile of extra numbers on the end to kind of confuse you. Thankfully with several reviews it has all being explained, but just looking at boxes in shops, often filled with useless sales people that just read the box to you, your kind of stuck.
You end up having to fob off an over aggressive salesman, the wander away and try and research it all, just hoping there is no 'gotcha' somewhere that means this selection of parts when all put together is kind of a bad idea.

I have r5 4500 cpu and a rx5500xt gpu.
However when i use the gpu at it's max clock speed or default settings, the cpu runs at 100% and it lags bad when playing games. But when I UNDERCLOCK the gpu to around 1400-1500mhz the lag is gone. But I've done some research and watching game tests It doesn't really lag or some "bottleneck" performance. What could be the problem?
