I think realistically the weird Redditors who think "linus is compromised now", don't think he's compromised because he prefers frame work over other companies, they think he's compromised because he's with the companies, not the consumers. Weird and unfortunate
From what I could tell the new iPhone is a pretty dull upgrade from the last iPhone but as a first iPhone or first one in over 10 years or so it's reasonably compelling. Personally I probably wouldn't just because of the ecosystem, and you never know what dumb shit Apple will do down the road, also I will not by a phone with a notch or hole in the screen but I would be fascinated to hear your take on switching after being an Android user for so long. Fuck the fanboys, this seems like it would be good content if nothing else!
I love the 4 hours WAN shows ❤

About counting the number of letters in strawberry, you have to realise that chatgpt answers in what it deems to be the most likely way a human would. In most circumstances a person asks about how many r's strawberry has, they are asking how many it has in the last sillable.
If I asked somebody "how many s's does the word stressed have?" With the contexed of asking how it is spelled, I would argue that the answer "2" would be equally or even more correct than "3".
I think this is a case of programmers being programmers and thinking in too logical a way rather than thinking about most people interact in speech.
Yeah the iPhone pro is more than I spent on my car lol
2:26:01 only the problem is country restriction
2:39:00 i did not even realise that i use t9 dialing all the time. If the feature would be removed, i would be mad.
The printer video got buried. I mostly watch through the Sub box (adding to Watch Later), and it didnt show up. When gou mentioned the vidro, I had to go to the actual channel to see it.
About Linus getting the iPhone 16 plus. I completely understand the reasoning from a consumer perspective. As a average consumer it really doesn’t matter. The features are so similar for the price hike it doesn’t make sense. However for Linus the price is not a deciding point. So why not get a pro max, so he could give his honest opinion about them some time later?
Claiming you’re using AI for a 1000 job applications a day is nonsense, where are these 1,000 jobs, and are there even that many locally you could reasonably be expected to do – applying to be a Dr, a surgeon, a teacher, an engineer when you have zero skill and qualification is not an application, if you’re looking at manual work is there even 1,000 jobs that qualify locally? Having AI apply for 1000 jobs a day that you would never be able to do and are at the other end of the country is a useless exercise
Linus complaining about the community felt very out-of-touch.
I don’t think he realises how far he has drifted from what we all originally fell in love with.
I haven’t been subscribed to this channel for a while. I only come back for the WAN show, as it’s the only part of LTT that still somewhat feels like the old LTT.
There is much better content on YouTube these days from smaller creators.
15:00 I’m using a 14 pro that I bought some time ago. I’m using it with no case and I’ve dropped it a few times, no problem at all. It just has a little dent on the side, and a corner of the frame feels like I’ve rubbed it with abrasive paper xd.
The bad one is that while holding it on my hand it collided with a chain just on the edge of the glass of one camera, and it has a crack that reflects light at certain angles. It generally is ok, but it sucks a lot.
16:20 The battery is starting to annoy me a lot, while traveling my friends phone lasted 3x compared to mine. My mom’s phone is the same as mine and lasts 2x. Like wtf.
tbh, I don't like the positive takes from LTT, I think trying to be positive about it is not productive, I understand not wanting to be negative, but stuff just sucks now.
In my experience, the internet is increasingly hostile everywhere, not just in the tech space or towards LTT. It's the current social climate. Honestly, if things seem to be trending up for you guys, that's a great testament to the skill of your community managers.
ASMR start? I feel uncomfortable 😂
Linus has recently (since the PS Portal) had quite a few unique takes, and I love it. We don't need everyone to have the same opinion.
About the inflation bit: The wages absolutely have scaled with inflation, especially in tech sector. Median household purchasing power in most of the world has gone up during the past decade despite all the complaining. In general wages are the primary driver of inflation. Sony needs to pay more for their staff so they have to charge more for their products. Costs of parts are another factor but in there too wages are the main cost down the line. Production cost of microprocessors goes up because it takes more work to produce them and that work costs more. Surprisingly TSMC monopoly isn't really that strong as people think. Most chip customers are not interested in the very top end node and PS5 chips are not made on N3. Big reason Intel struggles with selling intel3 is that TSMC offers N4 at a relatively competitive price and intel struggles to compete due to higher costs.
1:14:50 "your mom's an Open VPN" solid burn chat lol
Not an Apple fan boy, but I work with Corning Glass engineers. Apple contracted Corning to develop the strongest glass in the industry, what Linus says is fact about Apple glass.
01:56:40 – Before Luke steps in – if you applied for 400! jobs, you're doing it wrong. It would probably take me more than a year to prepare 400 applications, and it should take you, too. When you don't have a job, your job is to find one, so treat it as a job and don't just 'easy apply' to anything you see – do a research, tailor your CV to the role, write a cover letter, make sure you tick the required boxes… for every application! If it takes you a minute to apply, that's how much the other side will consider your application as well so no wonder you're not getting calls/responses.
My brain exploded when Linus was trying to describe what they did with the Precision Screwdriver so the ifixit bits fit. Gather your thoughts before srambling mine. Thanks
4:07:13 I can’t believe they missed “shill” for “shaft-hill”
this show is just Linus telling everyone why they are wrong and he is right every single week
I spend around 300 bucks on a new phone every 3 years or so basically once security updates stop for the last 9 years I had Motorola phones been pretty good to me
Bud drives Porsches and lives in a mansion with a plus iphone. +1 aura but come on. Stop pretending like you're saving money.
The purse is either a scam or tax fraud.
I still dont fully get the t9 phone thing but thats prob cause my phone doesnt go to the numbers screen first. it goes to my contact list and then there is a butten to go to the numbers screen.
It's so weird to me that people would say the iPhone 16 is 'not enough of an upgrade'.
I went from the 11 to the 15 because I thought 12, 13 and 14 just didn't cut it. I planned to wait until the 16 was out to buy the 15 cheap but my 11 didn't work properly with my network anymore.
Now the 16 is released I'm like 'shit…'. It's honestly an impressive phone.
25:00 This is exactly what Apple did. They promote all the new features but leave out it's only for US, the new features aren't even available outside of America.
It's me, I'm the market. I still have a note 9 and my only current gen console is a switch. Anytime I phone shop other than being faster I loose stuff and I will be buying a PS5 pro when GTA 6 comes out
21:17 I mean why not keep the same model actual for 2, 3 of 4 years instead of offering a new model every year? A new model should offer something new.
This isn't Apple exclusive, but if you release something new you expect something new.
I don't agree that it's not important that a new release should offer new features.
i think i would take the 100 grand in cash, and finally start my coffee shop, retail space is so expensive and they expect you to pay like 5 years in advance, ya know, like ive already sold my Kawasaki, im just waiting on my truck to sell and then i get to start my dream of opening up a coffee shop in L.A. tho 🙂
Linus trying to justify the price on Woman's purse… and expecting to carry something inside… HILARIOUS!!!
Is it too forward for Linus to call the iFixit people to see if they are good?
I wouldn't mind to get refered as atmosphere-it is one of my favourite hip-hop duo
"Get used to not having big jumps in specs" is wrong attitude in my oppinion. You are just giving up. Apple could improve the camera specs a lot if they wanted to. 1800 euros for 512gb pro max is a lot for not that many meaningful improvements over let say 12 pro max.
They could do much better if they wanted to. So our choice is to vote with wallets and voice out our displeasure.
The issue with the framework investment is not that there is an issue, but the optics of having an investment in a laptop company while also reviewing laptops is not good
For example, I used to work at a casino as a slot technician fixing slot machines. I was not allowed to take tips from customers, because the optics of fixing an issue with a machine, then having a patron win a jackpot shortly afterwards, and give me a tip, would make it look like I rigged the machine for them, even though it was actually impossible for me to do so, as changing the software required a key only managers had access to
That being said, I do like the framework investment, and it is the laptop I will buy the next time I need a laptop, but it would also be best if you stopped making laptop reviews
As for all the hate, Linus gives a cocky asshole vibe when confronted, which is the kind of thing that makes people really mad
