  1. The questions with the printer and the PC case. You can't take the test seriously just because of the pictures that appear to have been drawn by a 6 year old child… Oh yes: 06:50 would have been my answer. 😀 😉

  2. I actually passed by Security plus exam this week and was very glad I used CompTIA's books and materials. They really want you to use their methods and vocabulary for the exam. Even after five years of server/network maintenance from endpoint hardware to router and everything in between I still had to double take while studying. The exam has downright dumb questions.

  3. The tests are adaptive too

  4. bro should try IIT-JEE exam

  5. The EOL for windows 10 in a year, no windows 11 isnt great

  6. huh. According to the sample questions you provided, I would have ACED that test. Did not expect that. Now I'm intrigued and somewhat tempted to try it myself………..

  7. I have the A+ and server +

  8. Got mine before they expired. Grandfathered valid forever.

  9. totally agree. youtube is the best for learning. i got all my knowledge from @howtobasic . great YT channel for learning new skills!

  10. A+ certification is worthless

  11. Cool now do the ccna

  12. Hopefully N+ certification cares much better these days.

No idea about A4 and Letter papers, shows Linus never did an office thech support.
Like we didn't know. Still, a surprise 😂

  13. it's a total joke

  14. I am a certified Security+ from CompTIA and I have the say, the exam was brutal just because I had to pee and I couldn't leave my chair, a part that it wasn't too hard.
What I really found useful was the studying material. I was at the beginning of my cybersecurity career, I had some knowledge obviously and work experience but the studying material was a good enough base-level type of knowledge to understand the mindset and just get up to speed quickly.
I got another more advanced cert after that and I didn't have to put too much effort into the studying because a lot of things were already covered by the Sec+ cert (and more work experience).
In summary: the exam is a bit BS but the books are a very good starting point for your career. I don't know about their more advanced certs but the entry level one are decent.

  15. I love the fact you need to know "how to fix the printer" as an "IT Guy". That's… Practical

  16. Paying over 500 bucks for a potentially useless piece of paper is crazy

  17. Careful Linus, i hear CompTIA know those boeing guys

  18. looks and smells like a con , non profit lobby group bringing in 100 mil plus.

  19. back in highschool i was in charge of hiring for a local WISP i made with a friend.

i immediately ignored the certification and degree fields on applications, and went straight to the personal/professional experience section.

90% of the time the guys with 23904890 certificates and college degrees had 0 real life work experience, and did not get the job. meanwhile the ones with no degree, no certs, and lots of personal projects/experiences, knew more about real-world environments and got the job

  20. Dude, nice. You should update your LinkedIn!

  21. is this gonna be part 1 of you guys creating a new tech exam?

  22. Try microsoft certification!

  23. That cert it's just shit

  24. I have an A+ certification but it's so hard to find an entry level position.

  25. Testing doesn't keep up with the real world and didn't do it either back in the days. I took A+, Network+ and MCSA back in 2005. Two years ago I did the Cisco equivalent of both and the modular exams for CCNA, Stopped short of the singular exam. There was still a load of stuff in the Cisco exams that was in the A+ exams of 2005, about obsolete technologies. And the stuff about network security in the CCNA exams? Sometimes it made me cringe. To top it off I was awarded a new certificate by Comptia: because I did A+ and Network+ back in 2005 I apparently was a Comptia IT Operations Specialist since 2005.

  26. I was a trainer for 5years training comptia cisco and MS, the exams are garbage.

  27. As someone who scored 99% on their food safety recertification last month and felt bad about it, I have to fully agree that a passing grade for most certifications isn't high enough for me to trust that the pupil actually knows what they're doing and that they will retain the information after the test.

  28. For the same amount of money you're way better off taking a couple of basic AWS certifications. Plenty of free or cheap study materials to prepare for those and way better return on investment.

  29. Guys use castor oil and learn the difference. By the way, it is like the AAT I am doing, where you can take exams up to level 3 at home, but are not allowed to talk about the questions to anyone afterward and once you take the exams you know why, you don't wanna share that information with anyone.

  30. If you read the terms of the CompTIA testing, they explain that many of the questions are designed with multiple right answers or no right answer, and these questions do not count towards your score, but are for psychoanalysis and planning of future tests. (AKA they are messing with you)

  31. I hate exams where it asks a complex question about a specific stituation but then don't provide enough context of the situation for you to answer the question properly.

  32. hilarious timing, im taking the second a+ exam in 2 days

  33. The printer 🖨️ said it needed A4 paper so you must check the paper size / even your friend answered wrong 7:07

  34. Most certs are literally useless. I work in SAP space, and most certs are expiring after a year, they cost around 300 and gives you 0 relevant questions to the subject matter. But I guess that is what happens when one corporation have monopoly in certain sectors.
