01:05:00 This sounds like a bug that I've experienced too and it drives me crazy. A window will not take focus when it's supposed to. If you want a workaround, you have to use virtual desktops and stop using virtual desktop 1.
why did errayone rush for the vest? you people realize how much brooks brothers charges for that shirt?
Brave is a great thing for my aging parents who find it difficult to discern between pop up ads on their phones and actual alerts. I have it installed on both of their phones and with the built in ad block they can just use the Internet
4:02:00 You should sincerely thank the community for helping you out of a bind and quit making them after the bad stock is depleted. That also makes them more desirable and almost GUARANTEES the community will help again if it should happen.
its hard to listen Linus over-complicate screen-grabs on Mac OS. It's not rocket science, omg. It gets saved by default to desktop. Also, they keyboard command with the mouse can isolate certain areas you want to screencap. You just wait a second or 2 after capturing (rather than click the floating pic) and then its saved.
AMD not competitive since the early 2000's? How about radeon 7970? That was a competitive card price wise.
– one of most annoying thing about mac is that it can't maximize left/right/full easily (you have to HOLD the + sign and wait. it's such a stupid hassle). i see mac users ALWAYS manually adjusting the size of their window. i had to DL a 3rd party software to gesture it
– then when you maximize any window, you can't see the time any more.
– the best thing about a mac is how the spacebar allows you to preview files. don't know why windows doesn't adopt this feature. so useful for productivity
time-stamps from GPT, Sorry for any mistakes.

MacOS is great, but I agree there a lot of things STILL missing. The one that drives me crazy on both iOS and Mac is no volume control on individual sources. Most 3rd party software charges for this functionality…
Speaking of bad user interfaces, has anyone tried to use discord? Worst UI in the history of the internet.

49:30 there is an app called scroll reverser that lets you set those separately. That is something legitimately annoying with MacOS and I don’t know why they don’t include those as separate options natively.
NO! NO. 2:25:48 we have movies/books…. manifestos…. dont meme dystopia…
I just got a new Mac Mini a few months ago and the display scaling thing is a major gripe of mine. Apple tries to "simplify" the concept of scaling and resolutions, but in doing so they actually made it much more complicated for the user. In Windows (and pretty much all Linux distros) the resolution it tells you is the resolution it's actually outputting to your monitor. In Mac OS the resolutions on the list are your native resolutions multiplied by an internal scaling factor which it does not tell you. So currently I'm using a 4K monitor but Mac OS tells me it's running 3008×1692 which is roughly a 125% scaling factor. That's fine I guess but a little weird, but Mac OS also has "HiDPI" which means it apparently renders the image internally at double the given resolution, then scales it down 50%. So 3008×1692 HiDPI means it internally renders at 6016×3384 then scales it down 50%. HiDPI is the only way to get a good, sharp image with display scaling on Mac OS. And guess what? The only way I can get HiDPI on my setup is by connecting my monitor to my Mac Mini using a high quality Thunderbolt 4 cable. If I connect it via my nice HDMI cable (a high quality Club3D cable) HiDPI does not work, and the image is a blurry mess unless I choose native 4K with NO display scaling. The only reason I can find for this behavior is that HiDPI is actually a Retina feature, and if you're using HDMI then Apple assumes that your screen is garbage (or is a TV). There is NO reason for HiDPI to not work consistently via HDMI when it is perfectly capable of outputting the native resolution. Using DP-alt via a Thunderbolt cable is fine I guess but it does limit the options for people with more complex setups like KVMs.
kind of obvious that Apple don't want to fix any of the annoying crap in MacOS when they can just grab 30% from all the apps needed to fix something 99% of the modern operating systems out there can do out of the box.
Safari is great for the most part, only a small number things that are rarely issues, The Mac is very usable out of the box. I don't need tons of extensions or software. Never seen the Apple logo cut off. I don't have these problems. When I go to Windows I am infuriated like you are on a Mac.
3:23:25 or look what has happened to the US government.
I don’t know if Linus want to experience a mac or try to want to make the mac work like a PC. Like the mouse scroll and trackpad, I feel more natural if the align rather than one goes the other direction and the other in a different direction. Long time apple users would rather use a trackpad even on an iMac or mac mini rather than a mouse.
They should seitch to spot lights instead of overhead lights for after dark

4k240hz respect
If you don’t want to edit the screen capture, simply don’t click on the capture image that appears in the bottom right corner and the captured window won’t pop up. Press Cmd-Shift-5 to access screen capture settings and see where they are saved.
missing Noki
As a 15+ yr mac user, trying to use Mac OS as it comes from apple wihtout hours of setting changes and other custom things is insane and scary. I would not be able to use a mac with the "out of the box" experience.
GPU mining isn't really happening anymore, though. ASIC mining is the thing now.
Quite amusing that the now over 20 year old "Crash Different" Mac commercial spoof is still applicable.
Frame gen is really good for World of Warcraft, since it's so heavily CPU bound it helps alot and since it's not a FPS the extra input latency isn't noticable
15:28 Definitely don't want minors getting graphics cards. These should be an 18+ purchase only
Where is Nokii? We need our timestamps!
The performance and name recognition of Nvidia is THERE, but when it comes to value and performance per dollar, I went with AMD. I do not regret it at all and will go with them on my next one given Nvidia hasn't taken the crown back for value like they used to have.
There's an app called scroll reverser I used on my mac to have seperate scrolling options for different input devices back in 2015
4:01:42 Linus realizing he has sold millions in revenue of pens.
Wait…

Linus uses his monitor's built-in speakers?

It's okay, Linus. It's 2025.
