Woah this video ended up being a longer one! There were so many questions and I wish I could have answered all of them. Thanks to everyone that submitted them!
I use the kasa smart plugs plus a python script using the python-kasa library to automate based on polled wattage of outlets
I am still using the x10 home automation system
Need help, does anyone have the new Xfinity as a provider. My lifx smart light doesn't connect after I updated to their high end router with Amazon Alexa. I've tried resetting the lights with no success. I also bought a new lifx light it connected once then it disconnected. Any help and suggestions from anybody would be helpful thank you in advance.
I have 17 LIFX Smart bulbs from BR-30s lifx minis and A-19 bulbs all of them quit working with Amazon. Alexa but still works with Apple home kit. So I had to move all these bulbs to Apple home kit because they no longer work with Amazon. Echoes for some reason I own three echo show 8's and one echo fourth generation full size I have a bunch of other smart devices from light strips and smart plugs and Philips hue lights. All of those work with the Alexa but not LIFX which is kind of weird I tried resetting the life-X bulbs but no luck. Still the same situation works with home kit, but not Alexa
Which mesh wifi system do you suggest
please make a video/explain about alexa starting a conversation
Can I Use aqara zigbee temperature sensor in sonoff zigbee hub?
Hey Reed, I am unable to find a good lamp holder for the FEIT bulb you mentioned as its 60W, Can I have the link to one which you used
I'm getting started with my smart home. I have Alexa everywhere, ring alarm doorbell pro 2' and door, motion, smoke alarm and contact sensors, smart outlet switches, 2 smart thermostats and more. I have a myQ garage door opener. I've used Alexa routines, smartthings. routines and even created ifttt routines.
my question is is there any simple tool to create ifttt routines that a are more creative, I.e. nested routines and multiple decision branches and logic commands containing multiple items like if a and b or c then d. I don't want to lo level program, but I'd like a tool that'll let me easily create and support my own coding.
Bro i want to install some sensors and switches in my home,do i need to install the smart bulbs as well to work with them switches and sensors or they also work with the normal unsmart bulbs?also if i install sensors or switchers do i need an alexa echo dot or hub to conmect them in a working condition?
Reed, you sold me on the Feit bulbs in your video. I bought three of them for my kitchen pendant lights and they look awesome! Is there any way that you know of to control them through Home Assistant?
So many questions needed so much more detail in your answers. Disappointing.
You mentioned that having a hub will allow you to keep using the internet when it goes offline. Do you have a video explaining how that works ? My service provider goes offline almost every night .
Hello, I am very excited about your channel! Thanks for your great posts! I am from Germany and was very excited about the feit LED RGB lamp. I actually ordered one from Amazon USA and got it yesterday. My question now is, what settings and what color did you choose to make the lamp glow perfectly at 1%? I don't have all the colors glowing unfortunately. I'm getting a little desperate with the feit app. Looking forward to your answer! Kind regards Fabian from Dortmund
Why not get a Homey pro. I love et. Control my Alexa, Ikea, hue, chomecast, tv, iroomba, netatmo, security alarm an camera. Batch my cat control my Tesla open. My danalock door wash my floor. help making food. Telt me new. Find my favorit music when I kom home. Set ned hub ever. You can't get a pro for 166.5 dollars.
3:45 really Amazon?? But Google home mini, Google assistant on our phone, Chromecast on our tv, etc is all Google 👀
Have to say, you seem tech savvy enough but you recommending mesh wifi makes me cringe so badly. Never ever make recommendations for wifi if you are not familiar with the space it's put in.
For smart switches the Lutron Caseta Smart Switch is the best choice for me. Works with Alexa, easy to wire (no neutral wire needed) and they look great with options that I like too.
Hey man, love your channel. Have an idea but not shure how to approach it – a bit of a newbee in actual automations. So, I have a Xiaomi air purifier (well 4-5 of them sdifferent models) all of them work with google home. Their HEPA filters live about 6 months so usage optimisations are important. Running on schedule extends the life but this is a lame method.
I am looking for a way to use a sensor or even an external weather feed to make the Air Purifier activate only when the outside level of PM 2.5 are increased.
I have a SmartLife Sensor for humidity and temperature that shows me in the SmartLife app the outside PM2.5 value. However I couldnt find a way to use this for automation. I could only use the sensors readings on temp and humidity.
If i manage to relate the work of the purifier with external reading channel or feed i can probably use a HEPA filter longer then 1 year maybe even 2.
Please let me know if something is not clear.

Does all hubs compatible with Bluetooth and wifi smart devices ? Or i need to buy Bluetooth hubs for smart Bluetooth and wifi hubs for wifi smart devices?
@Smart Home Solver Thank you dearly… Love your videos. Do you have recommendations on WiFi security or setting up something amazing to guarantee privacy?!
lmao, the ending!
Well, I'm holding off on home automation until matter is fully accepted, so I guess I'm going to be waiting for a while
Excellent video, I’m about a year into this and am looking to buy a hub now. I started with (2) Echo Dots and 16 or so smart bulbs but want to expand into other things. So, question is, buy one of the other manufacturer hubs or an Echo that has a Zygbee built in? I’m leaning towards that, especially for $99.
I really like that you don't go into too much detail but you give just enough information to direct us in one direction or another. I'm just still overwhelmed by the whole automation thing. Thank you for your video.
Internet Explorer will over take Google before they update Home Assistant. I haven't felt this underserved & lied to by an institution since Biden became president.
Can I use a smart switch (Sonoff tx) with a smart bulb? How will you light the bulb with your assistant using this configuration?
My doubt is: the sonoff tx will cut the power to the lamp ?
Hi, I have sent you a collaboration request from Dekala company business address, it would mean the world to me if I can hear back from you, thank you!
She just nodded no 🙂
Cloud free smart plug! You can monitor energy and its easy to setup with Home Assistant.
I can hear my wife saying the same exact thing! 👍
When I begin my smart home Journey, I started with a Google mini and a Chromecast dongle. I had absolutely no Idea I was on the smart home road. I just loved da thought ov controling my non smart tv with my voice. That was 3/4 yrs ago. Now 2021, I have a Google mesh router with 1 point, 6 Google smart speaker, 5 smart tv in every room 2 with a dongle, 3 Echo Dot 3rd Gen, & 25 smart devices such as lights, and fans (plugs & bulbs) ect, 10 window/door contact sensors, 4 motion PIR detectors (half Zigbee hub, half Wifi), a Nest Hello, Nest Thermostat, and Nest Yale Smart Door lock. I use 2 apps (Tuya/Ewelink) to run my 20 plus automations. And I'm still adding more to my network. I brought the hubs & the Echo Dots as a result of watching your Videos. I Plan on buying 2 outdoor cameras, more PIR motion detectors, smart led straps, and alarm sitens…
9:49 the Eve Energy is the one I use but the catch is that it only supports HomeKit
Home kit and unifi not native how you going about it.
what do you do for audio, sounds great
I have a question, do you still use webcore
I use Meross plugs for energy monitoring. Out the box they run in the cloud and are compatible with the usual suspects. I did move them to my own MQTT server on Home Assistant though as it's quicker and i heard stories (unconfirmed) of users being banned for polling to much. There is also the SALUS SP600 but even 2nd hand you could get 4-5 Meross plugs for that.
Edit, with the Meross make sure you do get the ones with monitoring as the non monitored ones often cost the same or move, MSS310 is what i use and they have been flawless.
13:34 I love all these small jokes. THANKS A LOT
What is a good wifi router with a wifi mesh system. I have Verizon fios
I'm thinking of putting in motion sensors to activate lights but I have cats. Any suggestions?
Zooz Z-wave plus power strip for energy monitoring. I use it on my washer to notify us when the load is done.
Maybe you have to be more specific with your lamps, the FEIT lamp is ONLY 120V and many of us are all over the world, i got a lamp from amazon, plugged it in, worked for 3 seconds and blew up because i am located in UK and they don't mention in anywhere on amazon, i had to dig through their site to see what went wrong. What kind of manufacturer in the 2021 smart market makes a product that works only on one supply voltage? SMPS technology allows us to use devices anywhere since the early 2000. The idea is good, the utilization is CRAP.
Are hubs secure? Like what encryption method do they use to communicate?
I like FAQ videos. I'm not mad if they are a regular thing. There's so much out there it's hard to keep it straight unless you're hardcore into Smart stuff.

Did I hear you correctly that you are not using HA for any Z-Wave/ZigBee integrations, but are using Smartthings for those? Thanks for the great work on this channel!
I love your channel You are amazing and funny greetings from Colombia
