Slowly disappearing features. Miracast on tvs, ability to hide the white gesture bar on Androids, now hidden bluetooth icon on status bar in oneui 8, forcefully asking for ids online, basically enshittification
1. Laptops no longer have internal optical drives, so a CD wallet full of movies for those of us who don't want to rip everything and buy/carry an extra thing will just have to get extra copies of our movies from free and very legal websites. 2. The oversimplification of features to the point that virtually every power user option eventually gets removed because the average person doesn't know about it to use it. 3. What I perceive to be planned obsolescence, where no devices ever get better with improvements and optimizations in software updates. 4. Constantly redesigning things for no reason that no one asked for. YouTube has rounded corners on everything now, removing the headphone jack from phones, or replacing your perfectly functional Google Assistant with AI Gemini, which is worthless to me as it does not function as a voice activated search. 5. Replacing free or paid software with a subscription service that just does the same thing for more money forever. 6. The lack of competition among manufacturers that bought out all their competition and the government doing nothing to prevent these monopolies. 7. Every single corporation you need to get customer service from now forces you to talk to a robot before a real person, where it often circles back to previous questions when it doesn't understand what you want.
How hard they made it on apps and websites to cancel subscriptions. Especially when they keep changing UI's so the guides you look up are our of date and AI is useless as it just makes guesses and tells you to look for obvious key words like "subscriptions". If I could find it that easily I wouldn't need a guide. Tell me how to navigate to the subscriptions tab.
As a software engineer, I gotta slap the inconsistent setting slides guy… every time you change the state of those toggles the change goes to a storage mechanism (be it persistent in-divice storage, or a remote backend service, whatever)… so the slider only changes after the storage solution is updated, and the new stored state comes back, that way you ensure the UI reflects what’s stored and applied in real life… so yeah, they seem to lag a bit, but only to be “consistent” with reality…
ACR on TV’s automatically, how everything has subscription/marketing ploy to get to you to pay for the premium plan (even Microsoft Teams now!), AI slop on everything, wired connections are discouraged now in favor of Bluetooth, how these companies are creating the problem and then creating their own solution to the problem they created (looking at you APPLE with your damn headphone jack!), etc etc etc
the Smartphone market absolute hatred/aversion towards any form of Physical UI, i get it Bluetooth & Touchscreens are great now, but i sure would love to have a functional "Close App" button when it freezes, or a way to answer calls that doesn't freak the Eff out if there's even a miniscule droplet of water in the screen
I'm sick of black bezels, if bought a white phone, I want it to be white. If I bought an orange phone, I want it to be orange. Jesus Christ it's not hard
My gripe is when ONE app on the Windows 11 desktop says "you have no internet" while the others have internet LOL, why? Firewall is fine, it is not being blocked, so what is the other possible reason for it to say that? It's started happening with webapp for WhatsApp, "reconnect" then it resolves…
What is your Tech Gripe? Let us know!

Elijah, theres headsets for way cheaper that feel great and sound nice too.
Even Razer and Corsairs high end offerings dont cost that much
For the first.. Just use another brand that allows customisation?
Pixel not having a good desktop mode when Samsung has Dex while USING Android….
iCloud is a mess and Apple hasn’t innovated since Jobs died.
Mine is that all headsets are banded… Why not buds! I need ear buds that are built like Beats…
If you don't know something, asking chatgpt makes you inferior to everyone in else.
Ah yes the I'm not stupid so other people shouldn't be
I hope AI just disappear one day ! It's useless !
Loading bars that dont actually show anything. They just jump to the end are stuck at 99% and then say failed.

I am glad that the 1st and 3rd person are not UX designers 🙂
Data entry on a touchscreen 🤮
The headphones thing arguably applies to mice even more. 🖱
I can agree on Android multitasking
I clicked thinking its something reguarding Adobe 🥲
A desk mic isn’t really good unless you use a toggle, but if you don’t want a toggle, most semi good inline headphone wires with a mic work perfectly.
My in line earbuds from my old galaxy s9 have better mic quality than a $100 turtle beach
My tech gripe is operating system companies who do not believe in customisation… Apple, Microsoft…

I also dislike Adobe Illustrator.
Love that his example of a good multitasking phone OS was Windows Phone! 😁

I agree with that inconsistent toggle button/Apply mess

major tech gripe is why the F VLC so popular, it was made by reta rds
nah 1st one is HARD NO/DISAGREE
I miss windows phone… that was before this AI microsoft
Multitasking with samsung z fold is great

How android keeps locking more and more options away until it becomes a worse version of ios.
Well good question, its coming back to your laptop knowing it was fully charged yestruday to find its drained overnight.

AI everywhere. Never asked for it, still don't want it
Linus nailed it.
The last one is not a hot take
What a Linus thing for Linus to ask AI to simulate Linus hating AI
