I'd be happy to watch the WAN show and subscribe to the new WAN Show channel, but I don't want to watch a 2-3-4+ Hour podcast, to then have my recommended and (more importantly) my subscription feed clogged up with multiple daily clips of a podcast I've already watched. ou stopped making members only content because it was clogging up peoples subs feed, this is exactly the same situation and looking at these and comments on past videos, I'm certainly not alone in wanting to keep my Subscription feed clean of content I don't want to watch. Edited clips should really go to a new "WAN Show Clips" channel like other podcast channels do where they have their main podcast channel, then another for clips which aren't clogging up the feed of the main channel. Y
I've been a daily mint user for a little over a year. Never opening a terminal seems a little suspicious. But it's been fantastic.
There is tuxedo computers that by default sells Linux laptops. It's awesome 😎
I'm faulty sure full self driving would be technically illegal in the UK. You're legally required to be in control of your vehicle. If you were in a crash and told the police the car was driving itself, I'm sure there would be extra charges.
Might lose a wan show veiwer.
I'd love to see Framework do a router – upgrade when new WiFi tech comes out, have OpenWRT on it out of the gate, customisable speeds, etc.
Just to inform you guys, the people who is willing to buy a framework and people who is willing to use linux is a massive overlap, not other way around.
Windows is absolute dog shit. I’ve used exclusively Linux for 20 years and now switched to Mac finally because it’s easier 🤷♂️
Honestly no clue what Microsoft is doing with all the account logins and just generally the UX. Windows should be an extra ssd dual boot for gaming session, everything else works fine.
I think something Linux is missing about the Elon and HW3 thing is that Elon's IQ is estimated to be somewhere around 155 and 165 and people who have IQ above around ~135 tend to have issues when it comes to predicting progress and timelines. High IQ often makes things seem easier to do, and problems easier to solve. This is often because many problems do turn out to be that way with high QI, so it's easy to assume all problems are going to be the same when they are not. Also it's easy to forget that the world is mostly people around 100 IQ and not able to work as efficiently. So I think most of this Elon Lying stuff is actually his IQ tricking him into thinking all problems are solvable within a set timeframe. I don't think he is lying and saying things while knowing they are false.
Imagine you were put into a world where the average IQ was 60 and you were trying to get people to build things, it would take longer than you think it should.
You could do a story on adding or changing desktop environments using Tasksel. Its very easy but also scary for noobs.
Microsoft forgets its place. It was a professionally coded platform for the end user's bollocks, not more than that..
When most people switch to LinuxBSD – Microsoft (and Apple) will fall. Next to go down would be Meta, and then Google >:3
Framework could do a modular nas rack mountable. Not many options in EU
29:42 it's extremely important to find another way to fuck up the environment with AI. Shipping a whole server for updates is insane. Why not let a certified technician in or something…
Yep, locally run LLMs is where things are going
Ubuntu probably isn't the best first taste of Linux. If that is what's going on here.
"f-stab". you scrubs are hilarious. 😂
3:30:03 Get the phone you want and replace the screen with a cheap replacement one, most of them are lcd
I'm just gonna say it – the number of time you've mentioned linux in the last year, is multiple orders of magnitudes higher than you have just some years ago.
…and you guys have quite the reach.
…and you're also a main marketing channel for framework.
Don't sell yourself short, you definately helped make this happen 🙂
I said this previously and still maintain that is a good approach. YouTube has the feature to redirect the stream once ended (crappy version of Twitch Raid). Dual Stream and set the redirect on the LTT stream to The WAN Show stream, stream for 10, 20, 30 minutes here, end it and have the redirect engage. That way you can get a lot of the viewers over there over a short span of time.
5:45 I don't see why you can't believe it. I don't think that framework purchasers are typical consumers.
I'd probably order the Ubuntu version, then install Mint.
At least I would if I was in the market for a new laptop. I'm not going to be for many years hopefully.
My God, Linus talks about a freaking electric toothbrush again. I'd really like to see a video explaining what he sees in them being so much better to be worth the battery issues over using your hand once a day
I think the site still needs some work. There isn't a obvious way to get All Products other than clicking on search and then All Products. There is no clear path to the TrueSpec cables. The only way I found it was scrolling through Our favorites on the home page, search or scrolling a lot through All Products or New Arrivals (unless I was missing something obvious, but couldn't find it under any category Tools, Bags & Accessories, Apparel, Home & Décor or Collectibles). Gift cards also wasn't obvious. Found it under Collectables but didn't expect it since I didn't see it in the menu. Just thought I'd mention a few things since it could potentially cause people to miss products unless they are looking for something specific.
Linus, you as a reviewer you are in the position to tell companies what the audience/customers want. If you had told logitech when revieuwing a mouse that you need native Linux support. I would bet you it would set off allarm bells all over the company that they should support that platform better. They won't do it when customers complain, but this is kind of your job as a reviewer to be our middleman and have our backs.
3:55 that’s because it’s $300 for a windows license from them, which is ridiculous. Ubuntu is free and windows can be added later
I bet a fair number of people are planning to transfer their Window licence to their new laptop. It's always bugged me that most manufacturers won't let you ditch the license bundle for this reason.
6:10 Buying a laptop without the Windows tax was exactly how I tried Linux and – over the course of a few years – switched to it exclusively.
I'm a Linux native for 10 years, and when looking for a fully Linux supported high quality laptop then Framework is top of the pack.
22:52 smart home sensors and stuff like that?
the space between their laptops looks like a little triangular purple guy with a big amongus-like visor
Won't transition to new WAN channel unless you stop posing CLIPS
I tried Mint back in 2015 and has never went back. But I don't need windows for anything. Linux just feels smother, easier, quiter. There are is no disturbance, and when you want to change something, you can.
Linux is never going to be main mainstream…..
On Framework doing TV – can't you just avoid terrible SmartTV OS by getting an android TV box?
Just preordered the Framework 13 pro and selected Ubuntu, but because i didnt want to pay the extra $200 (and also the black translucent bezel). BUT i do want to try it out and i am excited to try out Ubuntu.
I didnt do BYO storage because framework is actually pricing the ssd that i wanted (sandisk 850x 1tb for $152) really close to market, or at least to what i can find on amazon and newegg with the same speeds. didnt do BYO ram either because the price didnt go down.
i preordered it really late because i lowkey thought i could still catch the july shipping date but my batch is actually shipping in august. been wanting a framework laptop for a long while and the 13 pro stood out the most because of the battery life, LPCAMM2 on the intel board, and macbook-esque build quality. (I was actually considering a 13" macbook pro)
2:32:03 PLEASE🙏🏽
I am hopeful because GN was mentioned. Sure, there was a lot of stress between both channels, but I beg both parties involved to not get into a decades-long feud but, for the world becoming more dystopian, the big corporations greedier by the day, to stand together and to work together. There's no need to forget, just please forgive each other at the sight of the bigger picture.
2:29:24 MFs used to play table hockey and have movie nights after WAN show. The good ol days.
so funny that linus thinks deep cut is new slang. that is a totally mainstream thing to say and has been for most if not all of my life
IMO framework could absolutely clean up on an MP3 player rn. decent sound, upgradeable drive, and the DAC could be a board they sell separately. Cheap to get in, trendy to cash in on
