Amazing Products I Installed Steam OS On My Gaming PC – Here’s How It Went!

Comments

  1. 21:00 personally, if I already have it (and in bulk like you have there) I'd do the 6a for everything but any cameras, and 5e for the cameras. Infact, thats what I'm planning to do in my house.

You never know where you're gonna move your desk or entertainment center or whatever to in the future, never know if you'll drop a nas somewhere that isn't a server closet. I'd like to have drops in each wall, and rule of thumb (as I'm sure you guys know) if you pull one pull two, you may need it later (especially since you're not doing conduit).

  2. Oh look, a fourth house for the owner of the company…. How many employees of yours have a single house?

  3. CAT6

  4. 22:40 what was that?

  5. Very much as I chose with my house while re-cabling it, CAT6 is the better choice imo, adds more time before you would need/want to update the cables in the future

  6. who uses cat5 nowadays?

  7. Note: There is a reason why in German DIN requires data cables be run inside conduit. If standards end up changing you still can replace the affected wires.

  8. It's a shame you guys went from "Top Tech review and stuff for normal people" to "Reviews for people that have lots of money like me and want to spend more on my LTT merch so I can get another jet"… You're not the Linus I used to like anymore. You're just a sellout hungry for money and lost his ego in a pile of sponsorship funds…

  9. I unfortunately would do Cat6a. Seeing speeds increase every few years when dialup was once amazing to have a 56k modem then DSL and now fiber. It was not long ago this channel talked about its 10Gb connection. I would recommend getting thin fabric gloves when working with cat6a. If your index finger starts hurting the rubber money finger tip condom thing under the glove helps if you don't want the cat6a callus.

  10. You should be using keystones on both ends of all these runs… then just using patch cables from keystones… using structural cat6a into RJ45 is why you are having issues.

I've called many low voltage electricians back on site to fix this nonsense.

  11. 6a cables now, no question. Network infrastructure is always growing, and if the tech house's 5e cables need to be upgraded in the future to accommodate that, you and/or Guy will end up shelling out for the 6a anyway IN ADDITION to having to destroy and replace the drywall a second time. The extra present-day cost and effort is annoying, but it will spare you a huge headache in the future.

  12. Meh. Why not use proper Cat8.2? Or at least peasant Cat7A? Cat6A is way too outdated and way too cheap.
You need speeEEeed? Then go optics instead.

  13. Meanwhile every network install here in Germany is done completely in CAT7 with CAT6a sockets.

  14. There is no such thing as future proofing when it comes to tech. Who knows, the next standard might be telepathy.

  15. Cat5e? What is this? 2001? We are not talking about the last 5ft of ethernet cable that connects your pc to the wall and can be replaced easily if it's not good, we are talking about dozens or hundreds of ft running inside your walls, next to other cables, sending lots of data probably from your router to access points or 4K streaming devices. You can't be seriously talking about using 25 year old cables to a tech house! I would use a shielded cat7.

  16. The only future proofing method is conduit. Period. Once conduit is set in place you can replace the inner cable in a couple a minutes for as long as the house itself stands upright.

  17. if you call it the 'Tech House' and it's not running the best tech, then what's even the point

  18. Solar would be a really cool thing to have installed

  19. I just do 6a everywhere. Price difference is negligible in the grand scheme of deployment you're doing and any slight inconvenience of working with it today is massively outweighed by inconvenience of even a small chance of redoing it in the future.

  20. Run cat 6a purely because its a pain and that makes it funny

  21. Personally, I'd have dragged in multiple runs to each location and terminated them with sockets.

  22. walls are down. might as well do it properly now

  23. Взять в аренду аппарат и сварить оптику надежнее, чем потеря линка из-за рассохшегося пластика или по другой причине, сдвинулся коннектор в разъеме например.

  24. This is so strange for me to see that almost everywhere they use 6a, but in Germany we use Cat7 0,60-1€/m

  25. Silly to hear this discussion. In germany CAT7 is the default since years, and some home owners already choosing CAT8.

  26. 13:25 … you had to do that viral trend where his ghost continues walking, while he lies there dead on the floor…

  27. Flexible Tubes / conduit , Keystones, Patchpanel and network cabinet.
Shieldeding requires proper grounding of the patch panel (although a rackmountable switch could be sufficient in your case). The fire protection class of the cabling should also be considered.

  28. I would always suggest to do structured cabeling in the highest available spec. Nothings worse than having to redo all cabeling just because someone cheaped out and thought that will suffice especially if its inside the walls.

  29. 6 is the only option once you got the walls down.

  30. Is this Linus second house or is Elijah buying it.. Whats the future plans for this house

  31. Not a big house? My house is about as big as that double garage.

  32. why not fiber? it’s pretty easy to pull….

  33. Cat 6a. I'm doing wiring in my house all to a central point and I'm running cat6a. With work from home, I don't want to later on find out I need to move my office to an area that had cat 5e when I have Telus fibre.

  34. there is Fiber that is not Angeld, you should check befor buying your Own! (Green connector is normaly angeld)

  35. I wonder how safe going around the framing truly is despite the asbestos being removed now. Might it have been good to still wear respirators/filters?

  36. They haven't discussed if the cable should be full copper.

  37. 6A
