There is 0 reasons to buy Matte Oled, even in bright rooms Matte raise black so much and picture became grainy as hell, Glossy all the way.
Both have their use cases. Glossy for entertainment, matte all day for work.
Your brain needs to work harder (subconsciously mostly) to not focus on reflections on a glossy display, causing fatigue sooner. That's where you perceive matte as "soothing or easier" on the eyes.
A glossy panel reflects even in a pitch black room due to the light it emits itself (think of bright, low APL scenes). For office work or even for browsing all day, your eyes will thank you for going with matte.
Glossy for the best image possible, the colours, the contrast, the sharpness… a window like experience. Preferably use in a dark room with darker painted walls, like a theatre.
They compliment each other, there's no contest here.
Glossy is the way to go. Matte doesn't look that great when you stand it next to Glossy.
I’ve always bought matte monitors even my 4K dual mode oled but when I bought my first glossy oled everything change 🤙🏾🤙🏾 (true black glossy)

All matte screens look like a new version of the matte IPS VA panels that use to be out, It looks like someone smeared veg oil over it and it looks like theres a filter over the screen.
I had a matt finish Gigabyte MO27Q28G but returned it due to the coating de laminating and swapped it for a glossy ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG. They're both great but I do like the glossy display a little better.

If you’re a basement dweller, I can see the appeal of glossy, but in a normal room with a window new matte coatings deliver amazing PQ.

The answer, buy the finish for your environment. My apartment makes a matte screen a requirement. Since I am not color grading anything for a living, I don't care if my color and contrast is a little washed out.
I've always gone for matt, since I never liked looking at myself in my screen. ……. However, I thought you settled the glossy-matt discussion already. ……… It's because I saw a video when you were reviewing a matt monitor. I was sensitive to you championing gloosy screens, but watched the video anyway. ….. Towards the end of the video, you were gaming, and you kind of did a u-turn. You said that while playing, you did not feel the drop in contrast or colours with matt, was bad. You said you were happy playing, and found yourself kind of surprised. You said stuff vaguely like, the colours were absolutely acceptable, etc. ……… When we consider this against the screen being less reflective, it's surely evened out anyway.

My god, those tri prong monitor stands are ugly. The designers are stealing a living!
You should test the matte and glossy versions in a setting where no lights are shining directly onto them. I would be even more curious to see the difference in a completely dark room, to understand how the panel finish alters the light coming from the screen.
Also I wanted to say almost everyone seems to have forgor that asrock also makes monitors heh
Though yeah theirs arent super bombastic its mostly in terms of price
You haven't mentioned the durability to scratches and which is easier to clean, I have neither but looking to buy one that wouldn't be ruined so easily.
The curious case is of the LG 790B and 870B which are newer than the aSUS matte models
From my experience with them…both of them are really good
With the same caveats as all the others really the limtations to matte and glossy and there is no denying they are really good
Just got a gigabyte glossy and loving it.
From what I see like even outside of the comments most people use a matte or glossy and its acceptable either way
If you swapped glossy to matte or matte to glossy most people wouldnt be significantly affected
Though maybe if you go from matte to glossy and theres one big reflection that might require some changes to the background settings
Matte can look kind of ridiculous in certain scenarios as well really if you have or rather dont have control its going to suck either way
If you have a gigantic window with lots of light even matte is going to flash you with reflections really
What I mean is that
The thing is that between matte and glossy
If you have reflections matte doesnt magically make them go away either
And in some conditions they can look very similar or aalmost identical
In ideal conditions probably glossy is better than matte
The main thing I noticed is that glossy has this issue specifically where you see your own reflection…which kind of is just silly like
Secondary reflections are either less noticeable (they are still there) though mostly only specific ones are like super annoying or if its super bright
