  1. I’m surprised at how useful the Q&A Blueprint is. If you were going to make a custom Alexa skill what would it be?

  2. The movie you are referring to is "what we do in the shadows" at this time. https://youtu.be/U7gtXAA8w48?t=299

  3. Regarding the restriction on routine invocation mentioned at 1:25, as of November 2021 you can now have a whole list of trigger phrases for the same Alexa routine.

  4. The title is misleading and sounds like a click bait. I am trying to create a smart home skill using blueprints, but that is not possible yet. All Google search for that topic brings this video to the top.

Everyone: Q&A is easy and user friendly

Amazon: yeaahhh, we're gonna "fix" that 😉

  5. Great video. I just found out about the blueprint skill on Alexa. Is there a way to customize as follows: 'Alexa, what's my home wifi password' with the answer??

  6. Totally enjoying your content. I am a school teacher that is getting into having an Echo in the classroom. It's been working ok, but I just know I am probably way underutilizing the thing. This video was definitely helpful. I have a bad habit of ending class late between periods, so I'm hoping I can eventually have the Echo notify me everytime it's time wrap up this class so we can transition to the next. (I teach PK-8th grade Spanish). I'm probably going to set up the Q&A blue print with current vocabulary terms so students can ask the Echo when I"m busy helping another student. I saw in another video that you do that LED light strip countown thing for your workouts….ultimate goal is to have that set up for each class so that as I am teaching I can quickly see how much time I have left to cover what I have planned that day. That kind of real time feedback that is unintrusive would be amazing! I'm not tech saavy but super excited to learn! My hubs is a Cloud Architect with too busy a schedule to probably help me with this so I'm glad I found your channel! Your lil girl is adorbs!

  7. Smart home challenge: can we use Alexa to measure decibel levels in a kids playroom and then either make an announcement or flicker the lights when the kids get too loud.

  8. Hi, is it possible for me to ask Alexa a question and the response is a Youtube video? Here's my scenario – I am taking videos of my parents and I'm asking them questions such as "tell me about the time you first met" or "what was it like growing up during World War 2?." I would say something like this to Alexa, "Alexa, ask Dad about when he first met mom" and the relevant Youtube video would launch. Is this possible to do?

Yea get Alexa so you can be spied on more !!! good job all you brainwashed Alexa owners !!! LoL

  9. Hey I was wondering if I have a google nest hub, do I still need a smart things hub?

  10. Alexa, where is the rest of the money?

  11. The Q&A blueprint made me think of this from IRobot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3xM8sHGoiQ

  12. I'm so excited to start this journey of smart home…loved the other parent skit…cute

  13. Can you tell me exactly how u connected the Nexlux led strips to smart things with the motion sensor

  14. One point worth mentioning is that the Alexa Blueprints is Country specific. So for example if you want to enable and customise Blueprints in the UK, then you need to go to blueprints.amazon.co.uk (as opposed to blueprints.amazon.com). It will still allow you to go to the US site, and indeed will let you create the Blueprint Skill against your account, but your Alexa device simply won't respond to it and you'll think it's not working!!

  15. Hi Reed,

    My suggestion;

Use josh for natural human commands https://www.josh.ai/

Nails your commands with Natural Language Processing (NLP). Directly, without need of Alexa Blueprints or Voiceflow

Multiple phrases in one command with natural language without the need of routine perfection

No need to remember commands & item names just to turn on or off anything in your own home!

Josh knows its location will activate devices just the room you're in

No need to worry for guests. Infact, you will impress. Maybe your in-laws too?

You can even create scenes (lights, audio, TV, thermostat) , and name that scene with natural voice.

With AI, it adapts and learn your daily routine. Improving everyday.

Josh.ai sanctuary & privacy stance should be a family consideration.

Yes. With AI & natural voice command, the relationship with automation at home gets better.

At present, use Alexa Blueprint for Q&A

    Items location

    For your money (maybe not)

Design, Intelligent & Private Please do a Josh review!!!

  16. "Open my babysitter" also sounds like a serial killer 🙂

  17. Another Great Video!!!! You definitely encouraged me to try this now. I had no idea about this blueprint, until you mentioned it. Thanks Reid!

  18. One of the question answers oughta be, which batteries go in which sensors? And then you can put door sensor take the number the battery such a cr2450 that way before you go to popping covers off you'll have all the stuff to put it back together. Another one could be which batteries do all the sensors take. This could save a lot of ladder climbing and hunting for batteries

  19. This is incredible! I created a Q&A for my WiFi network. Sa-weet!!!

  20. Can u so review for Dahua alarm hub

  21. What we do in the shadows

I'd never thought to the use the Q&A 'Blueprint' capability like that. Nice! A really informative idea, PHS. Thank you.

  22. I enjoy your videos, very helpful. Maybe you can help me out… My Alexa app will not delete old devices. I've removed them many times, but they just come right back.

  23. Again “What we Do In The shadows” and for Bonus points you gotta watch Jo Jo Rabbit and Wellington Paranormal But seriously i was leaning towards Siri Shortcuts as the most powerful personal automation assistant but this blueprints thing might be worth a look thanks

  24. Hi Reed, I would like to have a Siren to come on (using a Smart Plug) if any off my contact and motion sensor detects something, but I would like to have a restriction so that the siren is not sounding all day long; I was thinking off an Alexa routine that when I executed it, enables the siren. But I can't find how to do it properly, any ideas??

PD: I currently have Wyze Cam v2 with a Wyze Sense starter kit, Wyze Plugs and a Echo Show.

  25. Hey, how do you fight with Alexa? And how does Alexa know this is a fight? Is it possible to make a video on the same?
