How does the Gauss Gun work?
When the steel ball is pulled towards the magnet it creates an impulse of energy at the speed of sound. This energy carries through to the other side and expels the weakest link the magnetic chain at a high speed.

Who's watching this after 15 bc

  1. A case on it with a hole for you to drop the steel bearings in would be pretty sweet.

  2. Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. The ball seems to be shooting faster than the ball hitting the magnet.. So if you made the ball that shot forward hit another magnet and launch another ball etc.. You could make a pretty fast projectile.. I think

  4. not jim

HH What if you made a loop?

  5. it packs a punch!

  6. Can you shoot all 4balls or does it only shoot the fourth in line

  7. Can i use an electromagnet instead of using a neodymium magnet?

  8. Would have been funny if he missed and shot the screen behind the action figure

  9. You look like Buddy Pine from The Incredibles.

  10. Kip kay already did this

    what if you made loop?

  12. what lol?

  13. Can it be A regular magnet?

  14. is it just me or does everybody have those doors? 1:57

  15. And if you stick a magnet on the underside of a piece of metal, so that its magnetism opposes the force of gravity, where is the energy coming from then?

  16. false.
The ball bearing that sets it off has potential energy because it is far away from the magnet, which is attracted to it. When the ball hits the magnet, its potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. So, the energy does not come from the magnet. It comes from the act of taking the ball bearing away from the magnet in the first place.

  17. my god its jim raynor 🙂

  18. It's stored in the magnet. Eventually, the magnet will "discharge" itself and lose its magnetism.

where from comes the energie? 😀

  19. I like yo hair

  20. KipKay made this!

  21. imagine if some one made a track for the ball so i came around and around intill it ran out of balls

  22. 344 people couldn't stand the awesomeness

  23. NOOO JIM!!

  24. Am I the only one for whom the link is not working?

  25. so if there is more magnetic energy then can the ball bearings travel faster?

  26. Fu is in the link to magnets

  27. LOL if you hit the TV. xD

  28. so how can you make it stronger? more of those coin shaped magnetz?

  29. Pointless things don't register with teachers.

  30. it's a school they don't care about awesome shit they only care about boring sot like that paper.

  31. yes, as long as you had proprtionally larger ball bearings and holder, you could make this almost any size.
