EDIT: There’s been many comments about using Smart Lock to have the phone always unlocked at home to use the assistant on the phone quicker. I agree this is a good work around and I tested it out before making the video, but I don’t want my phone always unlocked at my house. Others have suggested the new Pixel Stand 2 as a good option which I think will solve that problem!
Trigger warning: mute your Google devices for the ending!
Lost cause all the way to the bottom. Google makes a lot of stuff and supports none of it.
Hilarious at the end.
I have discovered today your channel. I have decided to use Google assistant instead Amazon alexa just because i am software developer and i use a lot of YouTube, so I have YouTube premium and YouTube music, and only google speakers alow me to send music to speakers with my voice. I have this little speakers along the whole house, but the basement is a 165 inches home theater which fully automated by broadlink. I would investigate about open source he assistant and rpi… How did you programme your dashboard screen of your home theater? Home assistant?
"Hey poodle" woke my nest mini hahahaha
That sounds a bit unsafe to have access from lock screen though. Then anybody access your google home. I can imagine once it becomes common knowledge you have a smart home, people would know they can open your front door from your phone. Hey Google, open back door. Hey Google turn off alarm. etc.
Google home sucks especially after the Sonos court case loss, unfortunately as an early adopter it was better than Alexa way back when. Now, everything is so much more expensive. Unfortunately I'm too deep in with speakers to start over.
How about removing the lock all together? Haven't tried it but should work technically
So sad that some of this features here still are not available in different languages…
Hey the fire phone was my first smart phone, and it was pretty solid if you flashed it with stock android lol
You can get that Google remote as an option in the drop down settings which makes access very easy 👍🏼✌🏼
I don't like Jeff Bezos that's why I prefer the Google stuff.
For me an Android Phone, the Assistant and two Nest Hubs work pretty well.
Btw.. thank You for all the Info I got out of Your Vids 👍
I thought you can have Google assistant learn your voice?? That still needs to be unlocked?
Seems like a lot of trick the software to …
Alexa and Google Assistant talking to each other will never get old.
We are trying to reduce Amazon’s presence in our live where we can (a long way to go) and as a result we are an Alexa-free house. I feel on=the=fence about Google sometimes. I am learning Home Assistant and have a lot more to do with that in my parents’ house, which has a small Google speaker (came with the Nest Thermostat which came with the HVAC which came with the house, previous owners didn’t want the speaker and left it for us), so I am interested to see how Google and HA play together as I go to make certain automations easy and fun for my parents and siblings and even house guests. In my home, I would love to also get HA set up, but instead try out integrating with HomeKit and Siri? I would love it if our phones were the smart speaker, as we don’t have any with assistants on-board in the home yet (just an IKEA Sonos)
Personally I had to turn off my ok Google command on my pixel, I quickly got the muscle memory down for the power button hold to get the assistant
Yeah no dude I don't know why you couldn't find anything online about it the Google assistant is better all you got to do is go on the settings and turn off the lock for assistant and for Google pay they're in the settings for both of those apps once you do that you don't need your code for anything just turn the screen on and say what you have to do. I thought all Android users know that but Google locks both of those apps down for security. Another reason why I don't like Amazon their stuff is very unsecure and don't even get me started on ring that was such a debacle and that Amazon server farm hack I don't have no time to be giving Amazon none of my personal data you can have my dummy credit card though.
Lol that ending was gold 🤣🤣
Google home is gonna smart home ecosystem
I've had Google Home devices since they came out. 1 Full size original google home and 6 Minis. They just got worse year after year. They were all replaced by Alexa.
what about removing your passport or fingerprint
So Google Home has me driven insane! I have two home hubs that I want to set up for Duo calls which the assistant keeps telling me I need to enable in digital wellbeing. However, when I go into digital wellbeing in settings of the home app it tells me I have no compatible devices available! Or if I go into digital wellbeing of settings of either of the devices there is no option to adjust the said digital wellbeing setting! However at my friend's house all those options are available on his phone for his hubs. Bonkers! Google system is rubbish!
I love the Pixel call screening feature , cuts down all the crap calls. OK now I am going to get a Google Display for the house. This video help convinced my husband. Thanks
You did so well not triggering my google devices until the gag reel or w/e at the end. :/ Woops
Great info, as always.. and yes.. I agree. I wish the phones would let you do more from the lock screen.
A bit useless to have to unlock, then say it again if you were too slow.
Also, Nest & the newer Nest Battery cameras still aren't integrated into either the Nest app, or the Google Home app.. annoying.
..but overall, a few minor fixes and I'd love my smart stuff more.
It's just.. I'll probably not be around by the time the fixes come around. 😉 haha
My pixel 6 Pro is doing this unlock thing, so annoying, especially if my phone's not in reach.
I'm glad someone else noticed Google Assistant triggers with Ok Boomer. I'm ok with not getting more personal info read aloud when my screen is locked, but I would like an automation for GA to not speak between certain hours. I don't need a full reply at midnight when I ask it to turn off the lights. The subtle chime it occasionally does is fine.
The only hope for Google Home is the MATTER protocol, but only if Google let you use sensors to trigger routines/ Automations.
Check out Google/Android blocks
for the routine not starting when you stop an alarm with your phone, you can fix that:
1) open the clock app
2) tap on your alarm
3) tap "google assistant routine"
4) profit?
You can also allow the Google assistant to say sensetive data when you didn't unlock your phone!
Google Smart Home is a lost cause…
Ending is lit 🔥🤣
Love the SLYNK music intro 🙂
You missed one important difference where Google is way ahead of Amazon: localisation. While maybe not as important in the US, having your smart speaker be able to talk in your native language is so important
On your issue with lock screen assistant, use smart lock and your phone will be unlocked whilst in your pre determined area or attached trusted device.
