  1. Thumbs up for Jimmy Hawkins for sharing his setup! Go follow him https://www.flowcode.com/page/automated_house

  2. New to this smart system i am overwelmed i gotta do this step by step is there a a good place to learn about this ?

  3. Aloha! Great and awesome video. Very knowledgeable to what I want to do for my home light situation. Love the dashboard on the tablet but I’m wondering if you can give me advice to HOW to make my current normal home light switch to digital like on the tablet??? You showed only a tablet plugged into a outlet. How would I convert my light switch to digital like how it controlled on the tablet. Thank you in advance.

  4. thanks for sharing

  5. Hello! What’s the table lamp you have behind you? (With the Phillips Hue (I guess) lamp)

  6. Make sure you turn on Guided Access if you are using a iPad

  7. I recently started doing my research on smart homes. And your videos are really interesting and engaging. Can't stop watching.

I don't know if you can help with this. I live in an apartment and I want to make it smart without removing or modifying any original things that comes with the apartment. E.g. switch, blind, and lights. I've been doing research on sensors to make my switch smart. But I'm kinda in the loop. I use Alexa echo 4th gen.. I'll appreciate if you can give me a solution. Thanks

  8. What dashboard app you are using

  9. Which cameras does the amazon fire tablet builtin dashboard support? I want to know if the Blink xt2 is supported because it is not supported on the amazon alexa app dashboard for live viewing but the ring camera is.

  10. Best budget tablet to use?

  11. What setup do you recommend for Airbnb rentals where you don't want anyone poking around the settings? I use Samsung smarthings and z-wave devices for sensors, etc. Also want to be able to have the video feed from my Dash to automatically display on the screen when someone rings the bell. Other functions to control lights, a Sonos player to play pre-defined music/playlists from Spotify, turn on z-wave devices around the home, etc. Thanks!

  12. Tip: @05:15 I'd recommend connecting the charging station to a smart plug/socket.
On a 15 minute automation check if the tablet >80-90% full and switch off the charger.
Then (/15min) if the tablet is <30% turn it back on.
This will extend the life of your device and more importantly, prevent the risk of the lithium battery swelling (or worse) due to constant charging.

My laptop was on at work 24/7 during covid as I remoted into it from home.
The battery in it swole up like a fat poptart so bad that it distorted the keyboard. Had to remove it and get another battery before it exploded/caused a fire :/

  13. So is home assistant an app you download or a website? How do you begin for a first timer. After buying all my smart bulbs lights and everything, what do I need to get home assistant

  14. What’s your opinion on power over Ethernet for lighting

  15. Absolutely love my Newest.Technology echo show. Love being able to listen to music and announce when dinner is done. Not to mention how well it works with all my other devices.

  16. Your duplex electrical outlet in the lower right of the frame at 6:22 is mounted upside down. That's not good because you'll eventually weaken both a grounded plug and the outlet over time. Also some wires that have a 'lay flat' plug end will end up with the wire climbing the wall then looping over to fall towards the floor. You're welcome!

  17. I've started watching more and more of your videos now that I'm a homeowner. Great content!

  18. Hello. Can you suggest any other ways to host the home assistant, because my budget is not enough to buy raspberry pi but i have ton of old pcs i could use, how could i install home assistant on one or what other device/service i could use

  20. no no my ipad 😂

  21. Could it work on Raspberry pi zero and touchscreen?
