My 80 year old mother of four and 15 grandchildren says? Please don't put your shoes outside in the grass to air dry? Instead you might want to place them two at a time upside facing towards the bottom of most any refrigerator and the air moving over the condenser coil will dry your shoes nicely in about 4-5 hours.

Covering the cup is fine but you forget they can go down the straw. Use a black binder clip. Put the clip on the straw. Keep all bugs out.

Helpful hack for the skewer hack, use two skewers, both slightly apart through the vegetables. That way when you turn them they won't spin on one skewer.

Walmart is currently selling 4 packs of steel straws that include a cleaning brush and silicone straw tips for $3.98. That is an excellent deal for something that'll last you as long as you keep it. I carry mine in a pouch I made.
