The dollar store has a lot more tech than you might think, but how much of it is actually worth buying there, and how much is just cheap trash?

  1. You have such a nice long hair mane and squeezable chubby belly. I just want to snuggle with a plush toy that looks like you.

  2. Shop at the "china" store

  3. Props to whoever edited the headphone sound examples. I'm at work, listening to this on some Plantronics Blackwire 3210 (standard call center issue style sub $40 headset) and the difference isn't only still noticeable it's night and day for the purpose you were trying to show.

  4. I've liked the $1 USB-C charger cables in tall clear plastic box package, the white ones with a normal cord not the tape or color-patterned ones. I test the connector in store until I find one that fits the phone with very little force, and doesn't make any weird clicks when it goes in. I generally only charge slowly at 3-5W.

Need more review vids like this please! Enjoyable to view and fun to listen through, plus helpful with the Dollar Store foresight.

(I'm only brave enough to buy the batteries locally from this lot example… Those USB noodles and ear poke-out buds Anthony took the plunge to "test" out, eeeee. Amazed they had power at all 😹)

Love the fussing and genuine attention n sensitivity to aesthetic details of tech tings when Anthony is giving us the evaluative reflective score 💫💡🔋🔌💫

  5. Why is your dollar store not a dollar..?

  6. 5:09 yes, if you push the button how it is meant to be pushed, it works, aka directly on the symbol, it's not that difficult

  7. "You should buy too"
*Just about everything turns out to be crap*

  8. I watched this video with vortex brand headphones, and it sounds amazing.

  9. The tips on those Phillips screwdrivers are fairly softened. Which is fine if your into that sort of thing. Now, I don't know why, but I really prefer hardened tips.

I got that same charger from 7-11 for around $10 US. It does meet it's output capacity on the 2A output when new. The output current is divided between the two USB outlets. On mine the plastic spring for the hinged prongs cracked and failed. I jury rigged it the first time and got maybe another half year out of it. Then I permanently glued the prongs with Devcon Plastic Welder, and that lasted until a criminal phone manufacturer decided for me it was time to buy a new phone.

I know, I know. The illuminated USB cable isn't shielded, but I only ever used them as charging cables. They're the only ones I can recommend ( for charging ), but they found a way to cheapen the product considerably, so I buy a bunch and reinforce them.

To reinforce the cables right where they go into the connectors I drill a hole through the flat cable. Next I thread a needle with dental floss, anchor the thread in the hole, run the thread from the hole around the USB type a shield and back. Then I repeat, but I run the thread around the USB shield in the opposite direction to even out the mechanical load. I repeat in this alternating fashion till I have a hard time forcing the needle through the hole with pliers. Finally, I sew the threads on the front left and right sides together, and then repeat on the back. Now sew up the other end ( cause both ends could fail ). Put heat shrink on both ends for a strain relief. Learn how to handle it with greater care than you can currently imagine, and it might last 6 months to a year.

Me on my dollar store headphones: They all sound the same… Wait.

  10. The phrase "heavy duty" has come to mean "extra strong" in common usage, but in this context, it refers to the "duty cycle" of the battery, meaning the percentage of time it's being drained. "Heavy" or "continuous" duty means it's appropriate for devices that are always on. Carbon-zinc batteries are most appropriate for things like clocks, smoke detectors, and other similar low-drain devices. They're only good for supplying a tiny bit of power, continuously, for years on end. If it has a power switch or buttons, carbon-zinc is almost always the wrong choice. Even your TV remote will eat through carbon-zinc batteries in no time, and don't even think about using them in a game controller. I'm struggling to think of anything I put them in other than smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and clocks… Nope, can't think of anything else they're good for.

  11. I bought a pair of headphones from Dollar Tree. Could not hear anything through them.

  12. Try a lightning cable they don’t tend to last long enough to even notice the issues before they fall apart regardless of source.
Im really glad my new ipad has USB Type-C.
Considering my current type-c cable has had individual wires exposed near the ipad end for 6+ months now including an entire month of heavy duty travel
Yet it still works perfectly. “I wouldn’t use it for data but I’m just using it for power which without double checking i thinks Atleast 40W.

4:24 some cheap pads… it looks just as comfortable as if they didn't have them at all.

  13. Image $1 store will sell RTX 4090

  14. the magnet on an antenna needs a flexible end then you could actually use it for get screws from small places. And I remember when a 3ft HDMI cable was like $50-$60 each and even a 1.5 ft one was $45.

  15. Do you have a Five Below or equivalent? That may be a fun one to try

Dollar store batteries die faster than like Duracell, but you get up to like 12 for a buck where the Duracell is like $10 for 4. Just get 5 packs of 12 and you're set.

  16. Hearing Anthony mention big Clive is all I need

  17. I like those USB cables for spare charging cables, don't really care about shielding if only using them for power delivery…

  18. I would not recommend buying those precision tools. I bought them a couple of times when I was a kid and both times the black part started to fall out after putting a little bit of pressure.

  19. Best use I ever had for those carbon zinc batteries was for a toy that had such poorly made contacts that only the little extended nub bits on those crap batteries could make contact 💀

  20. Imagine buying the 4080 in a dollar tech store in a few years

  21. dollar store mood light, purple, red, blue settings, adds a little mood to room, $4

  22. What does he mean by shielding when referring to the USB and HDMI cabling?

  23. did they really compare 350 dolar headset to a 4 dolar one … why even ?

  24. Anthony is my favorite host

How is the xm4 control? It sounds like shit Bluetooth is garbage

  25. As someone who lives near a dollar store… those batteries are ok for stuff like the remote for a TV or fan but that's about it. The problem with them showing this is that stuff in those stores changed quite often for the most part.

  26. 8:30 I have this exact set. That whole black bit is the whole bit, there is no tang. The metal handle is a hollow tube and pretty much all of them will break. I'll bleed every time I use them too. The burs are so sharp you don't feel them.

I had plenty headsets and microphones for 20€-70€. They all died on me within 1-2 years, cables broken and the wireless are not wireless forever. But one microphone I bought for 2,50€, thinking if it dies I can just buy another one, still lives after 5 years.
Yes, the quality is not exactly at a music studio level and yes it needs a repair slap from time to time. It just does the job.

  27. !Aaaaaaaany! flashlight is better than a modern smartphone. Modern smartphomes make my fingertips feel numb. I'll stick to my teeny tiny single AAA flashlight over holding an uncomfortable smartphone

  28. I've actually used the first Bluetooth speaker her showed, it works as it says. I've had it for 3 years now and still works in the shower, no issues yet.

  29. I HAVE INCURRED SO MUCH LOSSES TRADING ON MY OWN…I TRADE WELL ON DEMO BUT I THINK THE REAL MARKET IS MANIPULATED… CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT OR AT LEAST TELL ME WHAT I'M DOING WRONG ?

  30. the dollar store should be called the dollar + store

  31. holy sh………a game gear!!

  32. Lol the only things I trust from the dollar store are greeting cards (typically $0.50 ea), boxed candy to sneak into the movies, and some other food.
