I think I'm going to Apply with LMG soon. I have a degree in video game design and have a deep understanding of the industry itself and how it ties in with tech. I keep hearing about more gaming related content that could be coming soon, and I get slightly excited lol. I specialize in Level Design and Programming so it would be cool to make custom benchmark scenes that could be as demanding or as light as possible
I can totally see games being cloud based only and on blockchain networks! The only problem with that is companies actually letting people host and host themselves part of the network to keep games alive since they don't like to give power to people!

As one of my favourite content creators Linus with all due respect, you have yet to understand the far reaching implications for NFT as tech. You will ..you just talk about PFPs as if that is NFTs. I wish you explored the tech and highlighted what you find interesting, instead of just bashing NFTs as just being PFPs.

also, sony licensed microsoft's cloud tech
also though, just realized this could come back to haunt microsoft. they are trying to compete with apple keeping their market cap and stock price high as they can, but have less war chest then apple and lower market cap and apple is a media and wallstreet darling while microsoft has lots of enemies, and unlike apple they are just willy nilly spending money at this point, github can be argued as worth buying but they paid billions for nokia just to write it off without trying to do anything with it really, refuse to spend money on things worthwile then start buying things like linked in for billions of dollars and all these game studios and starting up that mysterious AAAA world's first studio they wont tell anyone anything about yet,
also even games pass, the model and idea behind that was trying to bring netflix model to gaming
but the problem there, netflix has never made a profit last i heard, and now is having all kinds of stock price troubles and its own investors now suing them and is now losing subscribers when the entire business model relied on them having far more subscribers to turn a eventual slight profit.
netflix is on the verge of being a dumpster fire takeover target or going bankrupt or having its funding pulled if they dont quickly turn things around, and that is the business model xbox is following and xbox has stepped on alot of toes at microsoft and there are still people at microsoft that dont want it to succeed and dont consider gaming a viable business to get into.

and needing a phone to unlock things on your pc even after you "register"/"trust" your pc bc somehow something thinks you are on a "new device" even when you arent
or being locked out of all my xbox branded or old games originally bought on windows 8 the other day bc suddenly the microsoft store was telling me in the store app that there was a problem and that i didnt hold the licenses even though the online microsoft store on my microsoft account still confirmed i owned the game
well with games pass you own nothing
and they are pushing xbox live gold to "upgrade" to that and there are rumors they will eventually just phase out live service entirely in favor of games pass totally in one fell swoop wiping out all the games you own currently
tech is supposed to help people and its slowly becoming a hinderance, a time-sink, an electronic baby-sitter of sorts, and basically stealing what people give up time of their lives to try to earn the money to buy, only to have what they supposedly bought and paid for and own, yanked back from them
like how originally you were supposed to be able to own land in second life, but really linden lab still owns it even after they sell it to second lifestyles estates or anshe chung and then they re-sell it to you, but eventually it will get to the point htat the servers will be on azure and microsoft or whoever servers they are using will actually own it
and possession is 9/10 of the law in many jurisdictions so all these companies putting everything they own/patents/blueprints/etcetera in the cloud and in many cases destroying their offline/paper copies, well they may someday in the future end up out of luck when their cloud provider goes to court and says this data you thought was yours, its ours now, we just rent you access/terminals and all the ip is ours. very little protection exists if any to stop that from happening.
and now the us the richest country in the world by all journalists and anyone with a mouth/opinion, is experiencing food shortages and massive inflation, and the country that has airlifted and used their global navy to send food and medicine around the world for decades and even sent food to russia after chernobyl to save the soviet union from starving when they irradiated their own grain fields and rendered them unsafe for 50 years minimum or something, now suddenly bc of the war in ukraine and an export ban from india supposedly the us the world's bread basket doesnt have enough food? what in the world is even going on with the world right now.
also wasn't microsoft working on analytics software algorithims etcetera in the early 90s to prevent or predict just this type of hunger event to try to stop world hunger? so why is it still seemingly coming to pass anyway.

did you notice when Sony denied Microsoft, shortly after Blizzard had all of that negative press come out? Gabe knew Microsoft's goal was to gain leverage against Sony to force them to allow game pass on their systems.

Blizzard is a shit company, merging with another evil corporation. So other than the general criticism about increasing monopolies, this is not going to change anything for MS or Blizzard games. But the increasing monopolization is a greater problem across all industries due to how capitalism works combined with basically no restrictions which make it happen faster. Although even with restrictions, it would still eventually happen.

Most currencies around the world are worthless. Most art in galleries is trash. The value people place on these things will be based mainly on psychology and how well that psychology is exploited by bad people. Expecting it to be any different for crypto or NFTs is silly. It's just real life but with computers.
Linus looks like he's about to flip the desk! And yeah, monopolies are NEVER a good thing. Except for those who hold them. And even then, only temporarily. Because stagnant markets atrophye. In the end, even the monopoly holders lose (albeit, usually after several generations of 'holders' having known fabulous wealth).
There needs to be a single-pannel comic of a gamer-esque individual working on a chain-gang, where the chains are made up of Microsoft/Sony/Valve/Nintendo/etc gaming platforms & services, and the execs and shareholders are handing the shackled gamer iFixit kits and spare parts; captioned at the bottom with "Right to repair!"
Valve is better than Microsoft…why? 'Sub-to-play' is still 'sub-to-play'. And they will all have subs. It's just a matter of time; probably less-time than a lot of people realize. 'Games as a service' and DRM-laced games equates to: "gamers get cucked-hard…and seem to love it (apparently)". Don't pay money to not own your games!
Doom Eternal is 🔥. id tech has put lot of effort into Doom Eternal. building with Vulcan so much more difficult but it pays off very well in terms of performance.

i am rather that microsoft buy activision than sony and make that ps trash exclusives, with microsoft i can avoid steam because of their launcher and have gamepass and extra sale with it steam have only 30% cut

I mean if you think about it, it is an incredibly strategic move. Say they acquire a huge number of games that people want to play, force them to pay $20 monthly for game pass, say they have 150 million users around the world (currently, xbox has 100 million monthly users, so this number isn't a stretch by any means considering this is for ALL consoles and PC), that's $36 BILLION a year.
Now we just need a U.S company to acquire Riot games and start making their games playable…

I'm also runing a GTX 1060 the 3Gb version and i can play Halo with low and some medium settings and even look ok not minecraft at all (when launching the game every time is anouncing me that the sistem gpu doesn't meet the requierments but the game runs ok..playable) – ofc i'm not running a 4k monitor..just a crap old Dell 24' at 1980×1200 px. Any game launched until now is playable even on this old GTX 1060.
preventing microsoft monopoly should not be like trying to punish microsoft but encourage other old and new companies. Making games is lot easy compare to old days and indie game developers and companies than should be supported more aka me XD (shameless plug ever yeah i'm indie game developer support me to fight again monopoly XD)

People have kept praising Playstation consoles for having all those exclusives at launch… This is just Microsoft fighting back and we can't blame them for wanting to be competitive. I've always hated exclusives, it created a situation that sucks for everybody. But as a PC player I would rather have Microsoft aquires game studios than Sony. At least they release their games on PC alongside Xbox…
you have no ideea how bad is this in Romania they blocked the hall county from using internet on Xbox consoles. So all the xboxes are bricked now in here and the more evil part is that Xbox is still sold even if its digital only editions of the console. When it happened i contacted suport and they tryed to make me subscribed to the mounthly subscription for xbox after They bricked all the xboxes
