I used a gopro for awhile I just kept it plugged up but I ended up hating gopro bc its not reliable and it has no cloud upload automatically live and I traded it for my first drone

You forgot about the 2 lens types. Standard wide angel lens, and the narrow telephoto type. Wide angle gives you good coverage but you can't read plates. The narrow telephoto types you can clearly read plates even while driving, but you lose the wide angles that show what's going on around you. The best dash camera uses both to capture all that's going on, though few have both in the same unit.

In both cars I use Viofo A119, one of them already paid for itself, on driver deliberately hit the brakes in front of me and with the proof he got fDajh up….

Dude dash cams can save you a tonne of money when it comes to fighting with all the rats out there you lie about how they hit your car in an accident. You dont need their license plate in most cases as people dont do a hit and run – they just lie and the insurance companies aren't on your side unless you have proof of how the cars came into contact. putting down 250$ and saving thousands from your insurance premiums not going up pays for itself quickly. The cameras are peace of mind in these cities where so many people are just bad drivers
OK this video is mostly a red herring. He orders crap off of Amazon. No wonder the quality is garbage. Get a Garmin. HAve used them for years and don't have the problems he laments about here.

Surprising to hear Sony being open in a sentence
This is such a bullshit. It came in very handy for me when I got into an accident and the other driver tried to lie about what happened. So it can't read license plate number but it sure did show how the accident went down. No argument from the other driver!!! Maybe that is what its used for.
Thank you for this video. I'm glad it's not just me that thinks the dash cams all kind of suck. I am ok with the performance of the ROAV with GPS but you can't use the GPS data on your PC, only on the mobile app connected to the can with Wi-Fi that is not capable of streaming the video without frequent buffering.
Thank you Linus Tech! This information helped me realize the biggest importance on dashcams. I was about to buy something "high end" like the vue dashcam and a thinkware mid price range for my 110k truck. I will keep checking the best device for my dash.
why Can't we just modifiy a GoPro?
The Thinkware f200 would have been better to add to this also in cases like this, Linus shouldn't have used Amazon as a reference since it's flooded with cheap/chinese options.

Don’t know if you have nextbase in Canada, but it’s a great choice in UK, offering 1440p 30 on front and rear, both readable day and night with the 512G model. Very steady, auto crash detection, gps acceleration/location, rear parking view and more. Would recommend to you, rather than just buying any old shite on Amazon

I’ve experimented with several dashcams and then found the perfect solution for me. I use my iPhone 13 in a holder on my dash and the OsmAnd DVR app. Great image quality, lots of features, and recordings that are backed up. I’ve used it so long that I don’t remember if it was free… but if not, it was probably less than $5. Great way to use an iPhone that you already take with you!
You should try 70mai A800S it's very good even during the night
Viofo is the best overall considering the budget, even tough their latest flagship A139 Pro real 4K it's kind of expensive.
Also, you cannot really use a GoPro as a dashcam because of the heating and batteries, except if you are using it occasionally or for short trips.
