Comments

  1. computer power user was my favorite magazine

  2. 19:06 I OWN THAT MONITOR, I have a 2405FPW sitting behind where I sit and it's a great monitor

  3. Geyblades!

  4. brings me back to when my friend spent our grade 9 summer building our own pc and having latenight Lan parties. summer 2004

  5. Honestly amongst the other high tech content, this was a really nice, nostalgic video.

    Should definitely do more

  6. 2:37 you wish you didn't need it

  7. City of Villains ad …. i miss those games so much ๐Ÿ™

  8. ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THST LINUS BASICLY HAD A EYEBROW SEIZURE FOR THAT TRANSITION TO THE LAST SPONSOR!????!?!?

  9. This display on the case thing: Isnt it getting more popular again? like with side pannel sized transparent displays?

  10. I remember my first computer I built before these magazines. Athlon Thunderbird 950mhz..lol it was so fast back then. Think the first game I bought was the original Diablo.

  11. That reserator looked amazing, is that not practical anymore? Would love to see LTT find one and do an old school review, or maybe a series of old school hardware like decade by decade of t he most influential parts?

  12. I unironically want a sleeper pc using that xaser case

  13. 1:52 I still have this case. In which I also build my first PC ๐Ÿ˜€

  14. I might have posted this before but just wanted everyone to know MaximumPC was "boot Magazine" from 1996-1997. In 1998 they re-branded as MaximumPC. You can read some of the boot Magazine issues on the Internet Archive, sadly there aren't many there.

  15. Bring back lots of memory from high school and university days.
-Water cooling system focused for overclocking the processor
-flash memory capacity at that time compared to HD just to small to compete as main storage
-PC audio system definitely a big market because all of my friends in the university dorm has at least 2.1 audio speakers system (Altec Lansing the desire popular brand)
    -flat screen CRT monitor

  16. Hi Linus
I remember building my first pc back in 1989. I was doing my microcomputer specialist course in college and the college hired me to build all new PCs for the hole school there was 450 students and each student had to have their own pc. I had to go from the 8086/8088 to 386 and to install all the hardware plus all the different software for each different class. For example we had travel agent class, so I had to install the software that aircanada was useing to book flights. Those 2 years in college was the best and funniest time in my live. We had other classes like accounting plus my class the microcomputer specialist course.

  17. "For all that money Crysis ran at 26 fps" Got me dead laughing

  18. Built my first PC in 98

  19. SSDs weren't even remotely viable until the very early 2010s, remember flash memory was only seen as a way to store data that needed to be transferred like in a usb thumb drive and even then it could only hold a couple of assignments. also Napster and Bittorrent should be hire on the list as those 2 things were the wake up call to the entertainment industry and gave rise to Netflix and Spotify.

  20. good old virgin times! https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxrJRfhhgfDQmuzMOCtUZ4_ymjEDu6CGFU sorry linus ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. Malibuโ€™s yeah I did the triple CRT once. It was pure sh!t

  22. ncix imagine competing knowledge

  23. Actually ten dollars on a mouse pad sounds about what should it be. Please save me of this touchy productivity thing. With the hyper sensitive finger tips and too fragile mind set that can be distracted by the tiniest imperfection.

  24. Ten years from now someone is going to make fun of what we consider today as high tech.

  25. there is footage from the early days of Jackass/CkY where Bam Margera is shown editing videos with either a double CRT monitor or maybe it's a triple screen set-up. But pretty cool nonetheless

  26. $1800 on a case. They paid an extra $800 for the custom paint job, for whatever reason.

  27. I remember Computer Shopper (huge classified ads magazine) and computer stores that actually sold (bootleg) copies of games on 5-1/4" and 3-1/2" floppies.

  28. XASER CASES!!!! I ROCKED ONE OF THOSE PUPPIES

  29. Wolfenstein 3D – father of all shooters ๐Ÿ˜€
