Awesome Tips We were WRONG about RAM – Or were we?

For CPUs back in 2013, we said RAM speed didn’t matter. But as CPUs and GPUs have gotten faster and we move to DDR5, everyone’s suddenly very interested in memory. What changed, and were we wrong then, too?

  1. Man, Anthony’s camera presence has grown like an evolved Pokemon. Guy is downright charming

  2. Subscribe or Jake will escort you to the nearest landfill !!! 🧐

  3. This is easy just test these ram speed with integrated graphics like Intel UHD or Vega graphics then you will see a big difference

  4. But what is the point of diminishing returns when it comes to amount of RAM when gaming..?

  5. Was the amount of RAM ever tested with this? I.e. would ram speed have more of an impact if you were running a game with the minimum recommended amount of RAM vs the recommended, i.e. 8 GB instead of 16?

  6. It makes bigger difference on iGPU… Which must gamers don't really use anyways… it does make a small difference otherwise.

  7. The days when Sir Linus' handsomeness is not intimidating.
0:26 Is there a future collab with Fix-it Felix Jr.?

  8. I like Anthonys past-present-future sum up, good with a short paus between the 'subjects'? (parts of a subject) so i as non native can try to so sort and understand what really was said (for me its a complex subject upon that too 😉
Except gaming, reactions on hardrock and rally and documentarys, even if im lightyears beyond the hardware and technics you often talk about i learn or get things confirmed on my level of knowledge.
You are one of the quite few channels i really trust, enjoy and have as major channel, for computers, importance and fun it's also Jay2C and that Holstein? (kitchenguy)

    /AngryPostmanSthlm 🌷😡

  9. i have gt 1030 with and old 4 core I5 vs modern 6 cores modern i5 with same GPU Especially on higher RAM speed . and even higher up game significantly faster on modern CPU with faster RAM on newer architecture CPU. 😅😂. thats even lauching latest games at 1080p very low at minimum 😃. Maxed out GPU 100% 😊

  10. Good that i found LTT after that 2.5 Mio video.

  11. When games mostly just used single thread they didnt need much ram speed. When they use many threads they can benefit from higher speeds.

When i was using 1st gen ryzen, i tested single threaded game with single channel memory, it made no difference from dual channel, but in newer multithreaded games it made huge difference.

  12. I suppose 4 months later, now is a matter of comparing the apples to oranges comparison to the apples to apples comparison. I.E. the highest possible consumer specs vs the variations of testing similar specs with induvial variables displayed in this video; and then seeing the price point comparisons to see if upgrades or maintenance is actually worth it till higher end components arrive in the newer generations.

  13. 8:20 is that ram small or are his hands just big

  14. Why not adding a 4k comparison?

  15. I am not really agreeing in terms of "e-sport" settings, I play on and off and do pretty well, but the settings we use are basically minimal on everything. No effects, nothing as it just distracts and will even lure you that you are safe behind objects that for others are boxen shaped. Basically the lowest and fps stable is what we use, and mouse acceleration minimal so that a rotation 360, ends up on same place without increased angle. Basically a gtx 960 2gb is good enough for e Sports. The newest cards are for casual experience, not for Sports, but nvme etc is very important and cores enough for the game utilization where many cant use more than 4 cores, so single core power matters.

  16. So my 4090 and 5800x3d will need better ram then what I have ? G Skill Trident Z Neo 16×2 (32GB) F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC

  17. Or CPU architecture changes when Ryzen came out? Remember that you could have 2666 on Intel but anything under 3000 crippled Zen 1?

  18. I’m wondering when they’re going to start releasing faster DDR4 Rams. It’s easier to find DDR5 obviously, but who wants to upgrade their whole system for that.

  19. I would like to see 8-channel DDR on consumer CPU's now that we got 16 to 20 cores, 4 isn't cutting it for highly multithreaded memory intensive applications.

  20. I’m gpu bottlenecked anyway so f it 😂

  21. I have Corsair ddr5 5600 CAS 36 on my 13700k and 4090 setup. 4k at 120hz. I couldn't find any justification for going for faster ram for modern gaming titles. Anyone? Cheers.

  22. The Ryzen happened

  23. for me that only plays at 60 fps 1080p because my monitor it doenst lol

  24. Heyyyy youuu guyyyyyys

  25. That face dissuades me from watching content. Real rap.

  26. Well even if it had a lower effect than i thought at least at 6,000mhz ill never have to worry about a memory bottleneck lol

  27. Technologies like DDR$ and PCI Express are almost always engineered to be at least 5-6 years ahead of the capabilities of the rest of the hardware to guarantee sufficient headroom for those components over time. Since they are updated way slower than GPU or CPU, they need to have this headroom. PCI express 4 for example was introduced in 2017 and not even the current 4090 can saturate its bandwidth and we are almost already at PCI express 5 with 6 being planned for 2025.

  28. Apparently, memory specs were head of advancements in other system components. Frankly, that was a good thing…at least for those who don't immediately upgrade their mainboard/CPU/RAM every generation. Those who held on to their core system for several gens still had some headroom with memory bandwidth that made GPU and even CPU upgrades more worthwhile. Otherwise, systems capped by memory bandwidth right out of the gate have no room to grow. With modern CPUs and GPUs, that's far more likely.

  29. Get a Teton bag for 1/3 the price and it's bigger with more storage.

iFixit ads are the reason I don't need an LTT screwdriver. Did it to yourself ya dingus

  30. high ram speed is a essential to ryzen

  31. always wondered if I screwed myself by buying a kit of ddr4-3200 vs something faster

  32. Good video
