Awesome Tips I just spent thousands on Lutron…😬

I said before that I would put Lutron Caseta switches in my ENTIRE house. That’s a very expensive task, so I’ll analyze if it’s really worth it. I’ll also explain all the switches and shades I’m using from both Lutron and other brands.

  1. I didn’t talk about Lutron’s Clear Connect in this video. But it’s interesting how it fits into our homes with all the competing frequencies. If you want to geek out: https://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/Clear_Connect_Technology_whitepaper.pdf

  2. Built a new house and replaced all the switches except for closets across every room in my house and installed 14 shades. 67 Total devices including remotes and it works flawlessly. Family can control with Siri, Alexa and Google and anyone can just use the switches as normal. Amazing product.

  3. I really wish the lutron shades had the solar recharge option other brands have

  4. What bulbs do you use for Lutron Reed?

  5. My favorite part were the kidos at the end! 😀

  6. I updated all my switches in our house two years ago to Lutron. Even the attic and closets have them. We haven’t had one issue with them yet. I figure it’s an investment in the house we have lived in for 20+ years and counting.

  7. Why don't you use Radio ra2 so you can have keypads, or homeworks?

  8. Hi, I have been following your interesting videos for a long time. Now I would like a solution for the following: I am looking for a Smart switch for my sunshade/screen. The screen works on 220 volts (Europe) and the manual switch that I now use is a two-way switch. Do you know whether such a Smart switch is supplied? Thanks for the response, cheers, Leo

A local (West coast Canada) electrician nominally charges 150-200cad/hr. I suggest you don't buy cheap devices. I am a pretty capable DIY'er. Believe me when I say that, even doing it myself, it's a pain to open up a crowded box to reinstall an unnecessarily big Feit wifi switch because your new light bulb buzzes with it. The $20 we 1 per switch savings is just not worth it. Don't buy garbage because you have to take it out in a few years. I stick with the tried and true Lutron and Leviton.

  9. Unrelated to smart lighting, your voice has a bit of bass in it and it makes it impossible to understand you on large speaker system, I have to put on headphones or a flatter device to handle your videos. Since the only audio you have is speech, please consider adjusting your levels to not thump so much. Thanks

  10. there are multiple reasons the lutrons are more pricey. one of the main reasons is the testing and certification that lutron, philips, etc go thought vs the china brands. its not just the software

  11. My experience with lutron is limited to shades. 10 years of experience working with lutron, mechoshades, hunter Douglas, draper, a many more. If money is not an issue, drop the extra money and buy lutron. They are the cream of the cream.

  12. Wish the lutron switches acted as extenders… The one main unit and one extender limit is kind of meh for such an expansive device.

    Does it work with 220v?

  13. I love my lutron lights and I am slowly adding more and more.

  14. The end of the video is everything! 😂😂. I’m in the middle of a whole house conversation from Insteon to Lurton. Purchased a dozen Kasa Wi-Fi switches & don’t want to go further using Wi-Fi. I’ll return what I can and sell the rest. I’ll keep some of the bulbs for color changes.

  15. Looks like Insteon is gone and out of business. I have many Insteon lighting switches running from the Insteon hub. Any suggestions on what direction to go. I presume the Insteon switches/dimmers are now trash.

  16. Great, i am from dahua company, could you help give some contact information with lutron.

  17. I ordered some of the iotty light switches.

  18. Hello, Im almost sold on lutron.
One quick question is there any 3in1 switch? I want to control 3 lights independently with a single wall hole, 1gang size. All I can find are wifi but I want to use one with hub for the speed and offline control. I dont like nor want to make those 4 gangs wide switches.

  19. Are you using WiFi switched or ZigBee switches? I hope you can help me decide

  20. Hey man, great video, thanks. So if you (or anyone else here in the chat) were building a new house, would you still consider Lutron and Hue and going all wifi or would you be springing for C4 or Savant and panelized lighting?

  21. Do you have smart outlets? Im having my own home soon, so im planning to make it a smart house, or at least get the smart switch. I saw a smart outlet but i dont find a really important role for it.

    Thanks for the great video

  22. I hope if you're being endorsed or compensated or incentaived by Lutron that you would disclose that here. Otherwise you're a paid shill

  23. I first purchased a refoss garage opener, the meross app was super ez to setup and use, then I got some smart plugs and added to the app, and now I have all the main light switches from meross, zero issues and super reliable. I know Lutron is the high end stuff, but it cost like 3 times more and I kinda wanna stick to only using a single app to control everything.

  24. Lutron is very good and expensive

  25. With the price of copper / romex / mc cable these days, not to mention labor – the cost of Caseta can easily be justified. And, you end up with dwelling that can be super customized with occ sensors, astrological time clock control, remote control, put a new 3way, 4way, 5way….etc. switch anywhere, any time, scene creation, voice control and the list goes on an on. In a post an beam situation, it cannot be beat!! WAY cheaper than conventional wiring methods.

  26. Ehat brand dimmable slim led lights did you use
