My gpu is from 2017 (Vega56), in the past 6 months I can't play games full screen or the entire display blacks out/flashes black when hovering over menu options, but VR and windowed games are fine.
How can I find out if this is a driver problem or a dying card problem? It's a repeatable on dx9, 11, 12, and Vulcan.
Would you reccon this would work for a custom external GPU link:
Pcie x16 to sff-8612 x8, sff-8611 x8 to dual sff-8087 cable, sff-8087 to sff-8080 pcie hole pass-through, external sff-8080 cable, sff-8080 to sff-8087 pcie hole pass-through, dual sff-8087 to sff-8611 cable, and finally sff-8612 x8 to pcie x8.
In theory it's a lot of adaptors and cables, but in my head they are all industrial grade, and I would have a custom way to go from one custom pc case to another custom gpu case and have a true pcie signal brought over instead of using my only thunderbolt port I have… I don't need mind blowing top performances, I need something that works reliably and if I can that uses a pcie slot
