It is difficult to explain the differences between the Labs and AnandTech since they are technically doing the same thing BUT AnandTech had all their content in a single location, which sounds like a good idea, but with everything all together boring test data and reviews for uninteresting products will bury interesting content and it won't get seen. Everyone will just see the uninteresting stuff. Since Linus Tech Tips and the Labs are separate, one can focus on interesting content while the other can focus on test data that interested buyers can find.
Will labs make money? Meh, it's not the goal. Labs goal is the data, Linus Tech Tips goal is sustainability.
That's the key difference. AnandTech needed both and weren't achieving that.
Bonus: Labs layout is more modern, looks nicer, and seems much easier to navigate.
Also since it isn't about profits but about data, no one should hold it against you guys to automate as much of that as you possibly can, not only to get faster results but to just keep your overhead on that branch as low as you can to ensure you can keep it going.

For the first time in months, this was worth my time.
@27:00 finding ram that's garbage or finding a PSU that's garbage, but doesn't get a lot of views, but saves everyone's builds, is a lot better (to me) than a super high performing video on info that doesn't move the needle. we aren't clamoring for content, we're trying to save our machines. I'm sick of potentially buying crappy ram, a crappy psu, crappy coolers, etc. when the info's simply not available anymore. a good chunk of the stuff in my system now is from LTT vids and adjacent content/forums/etc.
who cares if it's 100 views or 1000 or 10,000 if you're saving people's machines from thermal meltdown. content doing well is irrelevant if you're making the content for the right reasons and it's getting to the right people.

the update that brought crazy ryzen performance, just brought me crashes.
6:25 – I think the bigger issue is a lack of referrals. I've been using computers since Windows 3.1 and literally the first time I ever heard of Anandtech was the announcement that it was shutting down. I see articles from Toms Hardware in my news feed every day, I've never seen Anandtech come up in news or even search results.

No idea if they were talking about my backpack, but I had the zipper in the rear most section separate from the cloth material. It meant I could no long zip that zipper at all without being destructive. I reached out to LTTStore support, not even knowing if it was something that they would be willing to cover, and they did. Huge props for that, I have bought quite a few things over the years, and they definitely calmed any concerns with me continuing to buy things from LTT. Thanks to the LTT team. Shout out to Mitchell!
