You might be wondering why most of your videos seem to go nowhere while a few suddenly take off and carry your whole channel. That lopsided pattern happens to almost every creator, and even though it feels pretty terrible most of the time, it’s actually normal. In this video, I’ll walk you through the 80/20 rule (aka the Pareto Principle), how it quietly controls views on your videos, what it looks like in the real data from my channel, and a few ways to manage it without burning out.

Hey, I’m Ty, and I’m on a mission in 2026 to help midlife creators start, grow, and monetize on YouTube! I’m here to be your guide and mentor, to bring you actionable advice and tips and a little bit of tough love and inspiration along the way. If you like my vibe, feel free to subscribe! πŸ‘‰

  1. Check to see if the 80/20 is controlling your channel – Use this Prompt https://tinyurl.com/ysjd2y8p

  2. Am new here guys show love

  3. Great, as a music creator, scalling is less about RPM and more about retention

  4. I only started on Dec 11 but I’m going to save this video and revisit it when I get some traction. So far I only have 5 shorts and 4 followers for now but at least I’m niched down on this channel so long form is coming for that elusive watch time goal.

  5. Awesome channel. Thank you for your knowledge and encouragement.

  6. This was really helpful, I just started posting a couple months ago and this makes sense…frustrating at times for sure but makes total sense. πŸ‘

  7. This is absolutely true. It's funny, I just read Essentialism and The One Thing is on my reading list.

  8. I am a 50 year old skateboarder returning to skateboarding after 30 plus yrs off. Im getting very good, better then when i skated in late 80s. Any advice on how to make my channel successful?

  9. All my videos are wonderful.

  10. HELPPPPPP- YT all of a sudden just stopped sharing mine😒

  11. I started but have not gotten what to talk about but with 2 subscribers πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, I want to talk about mi mind though scripts are kill5 m😒😒

  12. Nice video but the title is clickbaity. I was tempted to click off if not for the research you put into the topic. But im sure there were a lot of other people who expected a different video

  13. Im doing a giveaway and i my channel has stalls. Only required 500 channel is 16 months old. I stopped trying so hard. I deal with alot of ghostwatchers that have larger successful channels just stealing ideas and concepts. I do have a loyal group of supporters so im cool. Thanks for the great advice on this subject.

  14. Thank you. Going to give your idea a try.

  15. This is nice to know❀

  16. I started 3 months ago, 24 vids crickets, 25th video 165,000 views πŸ˜… next 3 crickets. Cruel cruel game

  17. thank you for your link to the YouTube roadmap! My channel is less than 2 months old and I am absolutely determined in growing it!

  18. THE 20% THAT DRIVES 80% OF YOUR RESULTS
    Your Top Performers (France/Lifestyle Content):

Moving to Rural France: 62K views
Bought French House for €23,000: 46K views
    Capsule Wardrobe: 42K views
100 Years Water Damage: 13K in 10 days
Dream Home Renovation Roadblock: 20K views

    Your Underperformers (Pure Educational Content):

    Historical/cultural content: 6-7K average
Pattern: Personal journey content outperforms 3-5x

The Insight: People want YOUR STORY more than generic information. They want to see you DO things in France, not hear you EXPLAIN things.

  19. I do have 3 videos out of 18, and another now, my 2nd battle of Trenton video that is has performed much better than anticipated. Only my 2 highest watch time videos maybe all 3 happened to be less effort than ones I expected to do better😊

  20. Great info Ty confirming what I had already thought was going on with my channel. Take care!

  21. This could be what happened to me, I started this channel early Oct and have been sitting ar 20 subs forever. I released a potato soup recipe and gained 16 subs in 1 day and that video hit over 1k views where as my next highest has like 250 and was my 1st video. I only jave 11-12 long form which aren't long at all really (approx 3 minutes) I find it harder to stretch them out after filming, editing and voiceover i basically feel like I've covered the recipe without blabbing on l too much.

I got excited seeing all that activity on that one video which has me thinking I need to pump out more cold weather soup videos apparently since it's the right weather for it πŸ˜‚..

  22. great video thank you

  23. Such a cracking video! Love this, so true!
