  1. What do you guys think, is this worth it for infinity battery life?

  2. Don't really see any need for this.

  3. Made my own constant power to my Schlage Encode lock with about $25 worth of items I purchased on Amazon , a Zozo universal ac/dc adapter charger, and a roll of 24gage garage door wire, ran the wire around the door to the charger, plugged in the charger to a nearby outlet, drilled a small hole in the lock battery compartment, and attached the wire to the battery holder, and I have had power to the lock without need to buy batteries for the last 3 years. If the power goes out and I need to open the lock, I use the key that came with the lock, luckily haven’t had that happen yet.

  4. Any word on a Yale model?

  5. If someone could make one with logic that could move and charge loads of different things in a room, it would remove the need to ever swap batteries out again!!!

  6. Can someone explain to me how this actually works? Beyond it being infrared light being beamed, whats the actual science behind it?

  7. This is literally not a problem. My battery-operated locks are going on 3 years with the original batteries. In temperatures that range from -40 to 95+. No issues yet. This objectively is creating more problems, for more money.

  8. Isn’t it really bad to keep batteries topped up all the time? My understanding is that it reduces the life of the battery.

  9. "UNLIMITED POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!" – Emperor Palpatine

  10. When is the Schlage Sense Pro (announced at CES 2025) coming?

  11. Make it solar powered and then it's a deal

  12. I belief, the efficiency must be terrible

  13. I'll be installing a Unifi network at the house this spring. I have been looking at installing a G6 Entry with an electric drop bolt in the jam. I understand it's a much more expensive and involved install, but considering some of the other home automation costs it doesn't seem too extreme to me. I don't understand why I don't see more people installing commercial grade entry solutions.

That gizmo looks to be clunky and maintenance prone – need to verify it is powered up and pointed correctly. Nothing life shattering, but still there.

  14. Its important to note insurance companies in the UK will hammer you for installing one of these electronic locks, in fact if your front or rear door locks contain any electronic trigger than in the eyes of UK insurance its an "open door policy device".

  15. Having a "smart lock" on your front door is a idiotic idea, from every single possible angle. There was a point this nonsense went to far and this is 100% one of those nonsensical points. Even Hotels, you make it so easy to break in to i have zero remorse for the idiots who connect their front door lock to an electronic actuating device. Lmfao. you idiots crease me up

  16. Would you be interested in running your smart home through orchestration bot automation?

Meaning the system runs itself .. Ive built it, I just need users to test … message back happy to share and talk more

  17. fu cking wire it and it is done.

  18. It's cool tech but not worth it to me at least at $150. Almost all those locks already come with a solution for "what if the battery dies" in the form of the metal key. I might buy it at $30 for the novelty, but I doubt they would ever sell it for that.

  19. Just seems a) a very inefficient way of charging – how much energy is sent away from the battery.
    B) not a very good method of conditioning the battery.
Would be much more efficient if it only charged when the battery dropped below a certain level. And if the beam could be more focused.
How about a magnetic device – similar to Qi, that is attached to the door frame. Yes you would need to run a cable there but still. Add in a method of sending the rough status of the battery to the charging device and the efficiency would be much better.
Of course neither system charges if the door is open, but what doors are?

  20. Neat device, not sure Id use it though assuming I could. I do like the idea of replacing batteries less. I recently started changing the battery types of some of my sensors from CR2032 batteries to rechargeable AAs.

  21. The Lockly facial recognition/finger print lock came with 2 batteries, which last about 45 days on the front door (a lot of usage). So, to keep the wife happy and the WAR rating (Wife Approval Rating) high I change it the first day of each month. The wife likes the facial recognition and admits she would not go back to the old style locks now.

  22. https://youtu.be/vQozcbgW240?si=4fWgMq-4TVpSLYdW. This technology started 11 years ago

  23. I would wait, until the price is under $50. But, the technology is interesting.

  24. This is a very clever system indeed a new cheat code has been unlocked but of course depends on the situation if you truly need to pay the price

  25. First

  26. The wireless charger is from a company from Israel ,,don’t bay that shit

  27. Yes so cool. Id much rather have this ugly thing out in the open than just charge/change the batteries once every 6 months.

  28. I bet it's not "We" Charge but "Why" charge like Wi-Fi or Wireless charging.
