My old CEO used to always say "if you're number 1 in a market that doesn't have competitors, you have a problem." Honestly, competition is what's best for us consumers. I prefer AMD processors, but want to see Intel succeed as well. Playstation over XBox, but seeing Microsoft push the envelope is only going to be good for me as a PS user. Any improvements to homekit will undoubtedly be good for all of us.
hilarious ending
yeah i will NEVER use a ios device. rather go back to monkey
Are you gonna switch to š now?
Didnāt google home already have group devices? Hubs are good but if it relies I the router and the internet goes down thatās it! š¢
To be honest, Apple's influence in any category is not a good thing, and there are a lot of examples as to why that is.
Did I hear you say Amazon Echo will play adds? Does Google do this as well? Iām still deciding what platform I will use and annoying commercials could be a major deciding factor.
just out of curiosity… in what world does apple have betrer privacy? From what I can see, between apple, facebook, google and microsoft there is barley any difference on the privacy field. (And no, none of em sell your data, they would be ridicolously stupid to do so from their own profit as well)
does apple support z wave or zigbee?
you so worng what its saving apple is matter..cause no one was making devices for apple
We are huge supporters of Apple, with every Apple product updated regularly, and home kits been nothing but a disappointment. I do agree with you that this might change with the use of matter and the ease-of-use factor. Weāre starting to add more smart items like the new Yale 2.0 lock and we just updated our Lu Tron switches to new GEN three diva but I could not confirm if they would be supported by matter at a later date. Itās all a bit frustrating.
The major problem with Apple, you actually kind of rated as a positive, a lack of customization. I hate HomeKit and it's assumptions, and none of the changes you showed changed my mind. Big NOPE.
The one thing I HATE about apple controls is using the Homepods. I can say: Turn on Bedroom light and Siri will come back with some random comment that has literally Nothing to do with what I told her. I can speak slow and clear and 'she' will still come back with something so stupid that it makes me angry. I can ask Google to do the same thing and it NEVER fails. Not once.
I feel like this is only an argument if you have sided with the Apple ecosystem or use some amount of Apple products/services. I personally can't see choosing to be locked into something that doesn't let me use what I want for everything else outside of the Smart Home aspect.
Hey man, great video, thanks so much. Any thoughts about whether or not Apple will ever come out with a touch-screen in-wall or on-wall smart home hub, like an always-on iPad on the wall to compete with professional-install systems like Control4 and Savant? Thanks!
So it will have the compatibility of Amazon and google home but the self reliance of HomeKit. Yeah Iām down for that
Well I hope it doesn't and Hey Siri is my whole home and nanoleaf lights with a few ifttt things also which always work thankfully. Granted Apple won when my dad fell a few months ago and Google and Alexa failed me which is why I went Apple but have some weird and ok this super sucks bugs that makes me hear That's Not Nice or I'm Not Going To Respond To That a few times a week.
As a Home Assistant user who has a 3 HomePod minis in the house and had previously run Apple Home I am finding the new app is cool. However, it is connecting to many of the devices via the add in for Apple Home in Home Assistant. So, Apple Home can be the interface but until it develops good connection to all the different devices, maybe mater will do that and does good automations it still does not win.
Like I want a non customizable product that's only real benefit is to be able to customize things. I'll pass before they block a basic feature like stop playing or changing volume or something.
I have been using multiple platforms for years now for my smart home. I just bought a house that I can make decisions on the finishing touches and in parallel to designing the network and other wiring I am going all in on the Apple HomeKit ecosystem. And to make it clear I am software developer who knows multiple programming languages with networking certifications, so I am not afraid to go deep in the weeds with home assistant and the likes. I am still using HomeBridge and Scrypted where needed, but all in all for the first time Apple HomeKit just works for me.
Apple will take over with 6482 simple adapter upgrades, and 5 versions of the Home App all on a subscription service. Then, when all are on board, they will make a change that requires all the new adapter that they prepped months in advance. Because Apple caresā¦about moneyā¦
I have zero interest in investing any money in the Apple ecosystem. I strongly dislike their approach to business where they intentionally make their products not work with products outside their ecosystem.
Imagine that dense cabbage Siri taking over your home.
Apple crap is way too expensive, not worried about it encroaching on Google or amazons smart home stronghold.
Apple taking over? The same apple that charges you more for a phone with less features and dosnt care about customers no thanks. I'll stick with Amazon. I have always loved my Samsung my gaming pc. But Apple I cannot stand anymore
I have been switching entirely to the apple ecosystem over the past 2 years, but now I can never go back. Itās so convenient and keeps getting further ahead (eh the Apple Watch ultra and AirPods Pro 2)
They have no competition anymore in my mind, and itās just sad
Smart home? Sounds like a lot of electromagnetic radiation, I just took out my rf speaker sends. All that background frequency gave me anxiety.
The most hated thing about Alexa is the by the way ads.
Not when my nest thermastat, smoke detector, and Yale lock won't intergrate.
Yep, kinda of an issue. Everything else azI have is Mac: iMac, M1 MBA, iPhone, etc. Kinda blows.
no, it will not
Iād love for the HomePod mini to have all the integrations that my Alexa has. I love the app compared to Alexa, but Alexa is able to do so much more.
I will not buy crApple. Enjoy if you want your phone bricked or the RAM and hard drive soldered onto your motherboard. Enjoy that !
Iāve been through several platforms and am mostly Apple now. There have been trade-offs and Home(kit) is occasionally frustrating, but for now theyāre the best balance between simplicity, reliability, functionality and price. Personally, Iād love to see more competition – it benefits us all.
Whatās that cube thing on your desk?
Whatās that cube thing on your desk?
Personally not any time soon for me. I dont own a single Apple product, but I keep up with what they're doing. One day, maybe.
We moved into a new home fairly recently, donāt really have any smart home stuff so Iām gonna hang fire to see how the Matter stuff shakes out.
Thanks for your very biased , subjective opinion ….. I'll know not to take it now . š¤£šš
I assume this is meant as a joke. How on earth can Apple win when they have virtually no products worth buying. You can't use or control home kit unless you have an ipad or an iPhone.
No, it will not. Stop being sheep and waste your money.
Lol last min was awesome
