With real-time raytracing availability almost reaching 3 years of time, people starting to actually ask if they should “future proof” for RTX. But can you tell if RTX is even on?

  1. your grasp of what is "rasterization", "path tracing", and "shaders" (among others) is not very good.
I understand the need to explain them in laymans terms but please do more research next time.

  2. Is this a question of distinction without a real difference?

  3. "This one has Raytrace on because it's lagging."

  4. RTX is basically a everything or nothing, everything means selling a kidney and nothing means not caring about RTX at all.

  5. This take did not age well with all of the remakes in ray tracing

  6. Pretty clear rtx is like anti aliasing in the 90s, not worth the performance loss / cost. That is where Nvidia won vs 3dfx, 3dfx went for quality, Nvidia went for performance. Fps won.

  7. a big issue is, that many rtx capeable games are ment to also run on non rtx graphics cards. so if you compare metro exodus enhanced edition to the standard version with rtx disabled, or even to the standard edition with rtx the difference is night and day. a lot of modern games onlz ray trace certain things and light sources, as well as not utilizing different shapes of light sources. that is something thats very noticeable in wolfenstein youngblood or battlefield 5

  8. It is undeniably cool when you notice it. But I’m a performance bitch, I will always attempt to get at least 60 fps regardless of what must be sacrificed to get it.

  9. VR were announced as the future back in the days and nobody cares today… Im seeing the patter

  10. in tomb raider the starting area where she is in a cave climb up thats where you can see rtx difference, super high contrast, and wet surfaces is the best place to test RTX

  11. ok im sorry but minecraft looks 200x better with RTX and somehow runs better as well, which is just amazing.

  12. Minecraft RTX is not hard to tell the differencce in… Minecraft is a completely different game with RTX on.

  13. the fking 1-2k difference in money terms.. is just ridiculous.

  14. Game technology has been developed to replicate realtime rendering as closely as possible. Now game engines are entering a new paradigm where actual realtime rendering is feasible and although you won't initially notice the difference ( because the old tech was so good ), as things progress towards near perfect CGI being rendered in realtime, it will mean tech like realtime movie rendering is possible, imagine watching a film like the Matrix in realtime with your VR headset on, from the perspective of Neo, or any other character…

    GTX – sadness
    RTX – SOCIOPATH
BKBTX – SUS – BREAKING BAD TEXER EXTREME

  15. RTX In OTHER GAMES: pretty much the same eh rtx sucks

RTX in Minecraft: Holy f… Is this what real life feels? Oh my god that water it's killing me how juicy it looks oh I'm having a heart attack the beauty in this game

  16. Clearly didn't see cyberpunk 2077

  17. Funny part is that you watch for the lower frame rate… not the enhanced graphics…

  18. Please make a collage of sponsor transitions.

  19. Ray traced ambient occlusion and reflections are definitely noticeable

  20. 4:26 that aged well lol

  21. game production time reduction would increase the diversity of titles available in he modern generation of games.

  22. A lot of people also think that $400 TV looks as good as a $1400 TV. They have no internal benchmark of what a good image looks like. But even with this crowd, if you had them watch a movie with these TVs side by side, most of them would easily be able to see the difference.

  23. Ray tracing looks better to me on most games. Sometimes WAY better! It's not hard for me to spot the difference. The only question would be if it is worth the hit in performance.

  24. Just see Lumen and Nanite in Fortnite, it’s pretty damn impressive. Just wait 3-4 years I think we’re going to be on whole new level, technology will never be on a decline

  25. Great video

  26. Control was on that list and it's incredibly easy to notice when RTX is on, whole game's set in polished surfaces land.

  27. so rtx is basically the difference between a i just woke up face and a i allready had 3 coffee after i woke up face . hmm? is it actually worth the money .

    anthony's a virgin.

  28. These nerds need to stop wearing those mask. They don't protect you. As for the question, the answer is no.

  29. the only reason why i want rtx is for minecraft lol (Yes im a PC player that prefers bedrock edition)

  30. I love RTX. I use it in Minecraft.

  31. Plot twist, is his oven rtx on or off?

  32. 10:27, that's so definitely wrong. I mean the blocks next to the lava glow orange on one and not the other. So the one where they glow orange is probably the RTX one. But she seems to be saying the opposite, unless the video is not synced with the audio.

  33. The masks!!! Lol!!!

  34. more than a year later and trad raster is still great….. rtx is a waste of money/performance

  35. Easy test: Shoot a hole in a wall or wooden object in a game and check if light goes through the newly produced hole or not.

  36. Everyone 'thinks' it looks better, but nobody can actually tell for certain.

  37. Look closelyer…..

  38. The biggest issue here is that RT effects range so widely from game to game, and then further, the detail of the ray tracing is wide ranging, too. If every game was using 1:1 resolution reflections, shadows, and lighting, the effect would be far more pronounced, beautiful, and lend to the accurate recreation of a scene, but when they use 1/4 resolution detail to keep the frames from falling through the floor, it results in an image that is debatably not "better" than the faked SSR effects in spite of being more accurate.

One day, when we have the resources to properly calculate and display these scenes without having to cut corners and reduce quality, ray tracing will be far more pronounced and important to gaming.

  39. when you can't tell.. it's a bad rtx implementation.. lol

  40. The problem with the latest advancements is that they vanish into the background when playing the game. The difference between a 3DFX Voodoo 2 and the original GeForce is super obvious. But the difference between a 1080 and a 4080 is way less obvious despite the latter being further apart in time compared to the gap between a Voodoo 2 and a GeForce 256.

These bells and whistles are quickly becoming irrelevant and that's bad for the graphics makers. I have a 1080 GTX system and this is the longest I've gone without feeling like I need an upgrade.

  41. well I mean UE 5 game engine is doing some pretty nifty stuff with lighting without the overhead of raytracing or the time constraints of painstakingly implementing every detail

  42. Isn’t the DOOM cheat code IDKFA?
