  1. I like the phones that gives you the option

  2. I absolutely hate esim i love the fact of having the option to switch my SIM card to another phone.

  3. 4:00 apple gives people more choice and flexibility.🤣
4:04 "apple wants people to take control" 🤣

    👎
4:28 o, great, in my country you can switch your device twice per year for free, then you have to pay for further swaps. 😑 "innovation" at its finest.

  4. 👎

  5. i just received 14 pro max and and discovered there was no physical sim. its going to be hassle when traveling over seas.

  6. Samsung Galaxy all the way !!

  7. Anyone who travels abroad often & on. Many countries service providers don't support e-sims. All previous models from Apple iPhone 11 onwards have physical Sim & eSim. It quite easy for a person who is abroad remove the US Sim & use Sim of that particular country. I have Apple Iphone 13 pro max US model I travel abroad often it quite useless for me to upgrade to IPhone 14. While traveling abroad one has to pay heavy roaming charges. Physical Sims are easily available on all major airports. Transferring eSims is lengthy process very few cell phone package providers support it in other countries.

  8. Have fun trying to sell your phone with that stupid Esim in there. That will make the process that much more difficult. Traveling? Forget about it. Phone is broken and you want to swap your sim with a working device? Forget about it.This is more government overreach. They want us registered and in check. That's what this is about. The CIA controls Apple, not Apple. You Best believe that Samsung will be forced I to this control mechanism next! I would NEVER buy another iPhone again! Problem is, Apple and their government masters will make sure that every phone on the big carriers implements this control mechanism.

  9. why don't you address the iOS 16/Battery drain???

  10. No sim tray only in the US? A slap on the face for US customers, the whole world gets iphone 14 with nano sim tray except here in the US. This is a deal breaker for me and I am switching back to Samsung after being with apple for 10 years! What an insult to the American customers, now if you travel international you're held hostage to massive roaming charges. Apple could have offered a choice in the US but they arrogantly did not. Inexcusable!

  11. Unpopular opinion: I prefer the eSIM. It’ll hopefully mean less plastic waste in the future and it does simplify changing out phones. Older folks in particular may benefit. I know my grandma has dropped her phone a few times, and on more than one occasion her SIM card would jolt out of place a bit which meant she was without service for a few days until we figured it out. Most folks blowing money on international travel should have the money to pay for roaming packages anyhow. I mean when is a flight less than $300 to go abroad?

  12. @ 2:33 you asked "..with ESIM is that going to be as simple as.."
You did NOT answer your own question!
My guess is that NO ONE at CNET knows the answer to that question and/or the answer is NO and the cellphone carriers and/or manufacturers know the answer will not be acceptable to many customers.
I used to test cellphones and I've had that question since ESIM was first introduced. I've never received a satisfactory answer. 😞

  13. ifixit did a recent teardown where they found that there is essentially empty space in the US iPhone 14. So the space is there and apple is just refusing to use it. They have the space there for non US phones

  14. As soon as the keynote ended, social pressure mounted upon my country’s two main carriers, so much, so that one of the carriers already announced eSim support starting on the first of October. We should thank Apple for that global mobilization.

  15. the argument of having more internal space is complete bs considering iFixit disassembled an iPhone 14 Pro and found Apple has replaced the SIM slot with a plastic filler 🤨 effectively not utilizing the extra space at all

  16. So Apple makes it easy to switch your esim from one iPhone to another but makes it difficult to switch from iPhone to android or the other way around it just looks like another loop hole for Apple to lock its current iPhone users to their system, I work in the mobile industry generally if a person breaks there iPhone and wants to get a temporary phone for cheap they would do so but with this because of the trouble of having to contact your Carrier to switch your service to an android for the time being people will just give in and buy an iPhone immediately, In what way is this easier to switch your service to another phone, and the dumb excuse that it’s more secure if you loose your iPhone you can use the find my feature to locate your phone anyways even if they remove the SIM card the phone connects to nearby iPhones to send last location, Apple doesn’t do things like this for the fun of it they always have a game plan , remove the headphone jack sell a lot of AirPods, remove the charging brick say it’s for the environment and everyone has an adapter ok sure everyone has an adapter then why change the connector type to USB type c, hardly anyone has that Adapter, it’s all about making money 💰, I get to see this every day, one day they will make it so easy to get and switch service that you won’t have to go to a phone store to get service you can just activate it right through the phone this did happened at one time and then they took it off from the cellular plans tab so just imagine how many stores and employees would be out of work if that happened they are going after 3rd party repair first they prevent you from repairing your screen and when the public backlash hits they take a step back and allow you to fix your screen but now when you fix your screen from a 3rd party it gives you a message on your phone that the device is unable to verify that you are using an authentic display then they come out with a program to sell 3rd party dealers to fix their own screens but the screens are so expensive it’s impossible to make any money even if your repairing your own phone by buying the screen from Apple it’s still more expensive so take that into consideration when you make a judgement that e sims are they way to go, I think I’ll stick to my 13 pro max for now , this is my personal opinion based on my own experience with the shady practices of corporations

  17. just do both; physical and eSIM 💁🏾‍♂️

  18. Good to see Brian Stelter found a new job

  19. Her presentation was PERFECTION. Congrats.

  20. They removed the sim card, and replaced it with empty plastic. What's the point of doing it??

  21. Hmm I rather use a physical sim instead of esim

  22. Sim card good

  23. I’ve traveled to so many countries and have yet to buy a SIM card. T-mobile gives me text and data roaming in so many places I’ve never needed to get a sim so the eSIM thing isn’t an issue for me

  24. Combination of a eSIM and a sim tray would be a great option.

  25. I just got the iPhone 13 mini and activated the esim thru T-Mobile chat. Only took a few minutes and it works great!

  26. Physical sim >>>>>>> esim

  27. All I'm seeing are complaints in the comment section. Don't like it, then don't get the iphone 14. Or don't use an iPhone. But word has it, Samsung is following in Apple's footsteps. Eventually all phones will have this requirement. I've been using esim on my pixel phone under the Google-Fi plan for 2 years now. There's ZERO difference in experience. Plus, with Google -Fi I am good internationally. No need to get a local sim. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Stop getting carrier locked subsidies phones. Just pay your phone out right unlocked.

  28. You don't need a 4 minute video to tell you that they did it to squeeze out some more out if their already inflated profit margins….They're gonna regret it quick though.

  29. Esim is the future hopefully better connection in third world countries

  30. They are the most ridiculous thing ever

  31. making a way to spy easily gradually in coming generations.

  32. Did she say one of the downside if I lose my phone or break it, I will have to do a little more work to get another phone activated? Soooo that means it will be a hassle in a nice way. I wanted this phone so badly but I also love using my android. I was hoping to have a sim card for I can switch phones easily.

  33. All of these reasons to use an eSIM can apply to a phone that has a standard SIM card and an eSIM option. No need to get rid of the actual Sim card and force ONLY an eSIM down our throats. Just wait until carrier. Start charging 20 bucks to transfer your eSIM.

  34. First they took away my stone tablets, making my hammer and chisel useless. Then cars (yeah, it was right after paper) and I had to eat my horse. Now they virtualize my SIM card?!? This is just too much. I want my physical card! Actually, bring back my punch cards!!! All they need is a reader and we can feed all kinds of things into the iphone.

  35. The main reason is they are trying to make a water seal phone.

  36. Why they don’t give the downside about this ? So bias video.

  37. Apple is just removing the feature of physical sims, there's no new feature added here.

  38. Why eSim? So you can be tracked !

  39. Moving forward, will we be having double e-sim?

  40. I like the part where you say it gives more room for other components, when Apple just put a plastic cube instead…
Also, in the rest of the world, the e-sim is not or little developed, so they cannot do it for the moment elsewhere
