Awesome Tips The Apple Event That Never Was

Apple brought back the HomePod and updated its MacBooks and Mac Mini. But CNET’s Bridget Carey is feeling divided about all the news, which comes at an unusual time for the company.

Correction: The Mac Pro is the last product Apple is selling with an Intel CPU, not Mac Studio. We’ve removed the incorrect line in the video to keep things clear and correct.

  1. Ooof. Correction. Mac Pro is the last product Apple sells with Intel. (I originally said Mac Studio.) I was going off a story we posted that had it wrong. (And yet no one made a joke about how I'm giving bad intel come on people it was right there.)

  2. Well, one actually got 3 HomePods, and honestly what I’ve seen so far with the upcoming new one it’s not worth the change! Think Apple could have put a little bit more effort into this really It’s could have been a vanguard of smart speaker technology The market potential is actually there for this! Disappointed Apple!

  3. Lame

  4. Over dramatic

I just bought in late November a maxed out mbp 16" m1 max and if I trade it in max they'll give me is about $1300. It's such a joke

  5. "Having some savings is worth it, but having investments is the wisest decision one can ever make, in order to be financially stable"…I heard this from someone 🥰💯

  6. I'm a simple man – pretty lady do Apple, I clicks like.

  7. I'm still waiting for my refund from Apple of £49.99 from 2012: my daughter was playing some 'free' Penguin game on my (now long defunct) iPod Touch, long before Apple made it hard for kids to make in-app purchases on their parents devices. It's not like I had any right to let her see me angry even – she bought £49.99 of fish for her Penguin and couldn't understand what she had done wrong – a Penguin's gotta eat don't he? But angry I was. That's when I realised that there was an app for everything … except getting your money back! Fool me once – not twice. So I'm not surprised at the poor trade in value offered at all. But in Apple's defence, the Mac Pro is not a budget device. And it is sold with the clear intention of making huge profit per sale, and massaging the ego, not the bank balance, of it die hard purchasers. You are getting money off something that makes your old device redundant – you should count yourself lucky you are even being offered that.

  8. Every time i see u i fall in love.

  9. (1). We have been asking apple for the same things since day one. They do not care to listen.
(2). Why are they using a duel core, and not an “M1” in the speaker. They make a Mac mini with an M1.
(3). Apple has always given people horrible trade in value on their apple products. It is nothing new. Apple will just turn around and resell your trade in for almost brand the new price. Apple even bricked the iPhone 6 with a software update. Whether it is new or not. That was purposely done. At least with an android I can retrieve everything from an old phone. There is no software viruses the manufacturer is sending to people phones.

  10. Love the format!

  11. You look like Gadget Hackwrench from Chip and Dale.

  12. sometimes I wonder is it sane to spend 1000-2000 -3000 $ more or is it okay justn to wait for 10-20 -30 mins more for a render … I think I would rather wait

  13. That's Apple for you! And they know that people will dump the old ones, which are 9nly 2 years old, for the new pods. Just change your entire ecosystem to Google. All mayor brands support it and you can pair them, no matter the brand, for a better stereo experience

  14. Please review the home pod speakers…give us an update

  15. I was curious to check Tradein value for my M1 pro 14 inch. Its giving me 700$. But they are selling the same one in the refurbished site for 1600$ lol. This is crazy.

  16. What we didn't get was hardware ray tracing using the 3nm process. Coming soon, please wait.

  17. I think the thing that doesn't sit well with me, is the omission of the max on the Mac Mini. You can shove one into a 14" MBP with 96 gigs of ram, but can't put it in a desktop with an oversized cooling system? This is strictly a business decision, to make sure they do not cannibalize Studio sales. It's a cash grab, and I don't like it.

  18. Bridget, I love you and your new addition; one more thing.
One more thing wouldn't we all be OK in a world without Apple? This Reality is closer than we all can imagine.

  19. This series is dope

  20. Echo dots have been groupable for years to make a home surround sound system. Why does it take apple years of planning to do something other devices have been already doing for so long?

  21. Lower the desk you're leaning on. It's at a very odd height.

  22. The Echo Studio is half the price has Alexa & if you gave Prime Amazon Music is 50£/$/€ cheaper than all the competition.

  23. Apple is acting very brazenly by raising the prices of the new Pro and Max. Now the maximum configuration costs about $4,000! I thought that after the release of the M2, the old models of the M1 would become cheaper, no, instead, Apple increased the prices of the M2! And what, when they release the M3, will they cost 10,000? Don't you think this is a clear manipulation? And what is the strangest thing, despite such huge prices, people still run to buy M2! Wake up people, don't give away so much money, it's just a computer, it shouldn't cost the price of a used car!
